GREENEVILLE--The Milligan College men's tennis team dropped its first non-conference match of the season to Tusculum College on Thursday afternoon.
Number one Milligan player Tom Jones lost 6-4, 6-0 to Tusculum's Roberto Robles, while number two player Ryan Reynolds lost 6-4, 2-6, 0-6 to Jesse Puckerin.
Jones and Reynolds lost number one doubles by a score of 9-8 (8-6). Patrick Mitchell, Adam Campbell, Joe Dyer and Jon Toler also dropped singles matches to Tusculum.
Mitchell and Campbell lost at number two doubles, while Dyer and Toler lost in the number three position.
Although the Buffs suffered a tough loss, Jones feels positive about the experience.
"We're playing better as a team with close matches throughout the line-up," Jones said. "I think we are getting better experience that will hopefully help during the rest of the season."
Milligan's next match will take place Tuesday, March 16 at the Liberty Bell Tennis Center in Johnson City at 2:30 p.m., as the Buffs host Mars Hill College (N.C.).
