Milligan captures pair vs. Virginia Intermont

   BRISTOL -- The Milligan College baseball team continued its Appalachian Athletic Conference season with a doubleheader sweep over Virginia Intermont by the scores of 6-1 and 10-4 on Sunday afternoon.
   Milligan moved to 6-7 overall and 3-2 in the AAC season while Virginia Intermont fell to 1-8 overall and 0-5 in AAC play.
   Picking up the game one victory on the mound was senior Todd Speas, who pitched six innings, allowing one run, scattering five hits and also striking five out.
   Milligan had four batters each go 2-for-4 in the opener. They were Will Little, David Rusaw, Jacob McAllister, and Brian Miller. Rusaw and Miller each added two RBIs.
   For VI, Chase Watkins was 3-for-4, with all three hits being singles.
   For Milligan in the second game, freshman Stephen Jarrett pitched three innings, allowing only one run on two hits with a strikeout, to earn the victory. The leading hitters for the Buffs were Nathan Meade and Rusaw, who both went 2-for-4. Rusaw added three RBIs, and Lister was 2-3 with two runs scored.
   The next game for Milligan will be this afternoon at Lee (Tenn.) University for a double header starting at 1.
