Lady Buffs top Cobras

from staff reports

Milligan used good pitching and solid defense to sweep Virginia Intermont 11-1 and 3-2 in women's collegiate softball action on Wednesday.
In game one, Brandy Waddle (4-3) tossed a four-hitter, striking out nine batters to earn the win for the Lady Buffs. Carissa Ellis had two hits, two runs and two RBIs to pace the Lady Buffs. Shelby Banion scored three runs and had two ribbies in the Milligan win.
Brooke Davis led the offense in the second contest with a run-scoring triple in the third inning and a run-scoring double in the fifth. Ellis scored as a result of both hits. Banion had two hits and scored the other Lady Buffalo runs.
Due to illness of Ashley Fine, Waddell was called upon to pitch this game also. Despite the long day, she gave up only two runs and five hits over the seven innings.
