Warriors rip Buffs

from staff reports

MOSHEIM -- While Britton Brumitt had a stifling effect on the West Greene Buffaloes Wednesday, Happy Valley pounded away at the plate for a 13-2 victory in a high school baseball game.
Brumitt went the distance for the Warriors (2-0), showing good command of his fastball and curve. Hitting his spots well, he struck out seven, walked just one and allowed one earned run.
Cody Whitlock and Daniel Back carried the load offensively for Happy Valley. Whitlock went 4-for-5 with a solo home run and three RBIs, while Back batted 3-for-4 and tagged a solo homer of his own.
Cody Cannon had a nice day with two hits, including a two-run homer and three RBIs, in four at-bats. Ditto for Shawn Bare, who went 2-for-4 and drove in a pair.
Tim Whaley contributed a home run.
In Happy Valley's next game, the Warriors host Unaka at 4 p.m. Friday. However, it's possible the game will be postponed.
