Lady Buffs beat Rams

   On Saturday, the Milligan College Lady Buffaloes swept the Bluefield Lady Rams 9-6 and 16-4 to improve to 4-0 in Appalachian Athletic Conference play. Milligan improved to 5-6 overall.
   Lori Baimbridge led the Buffs with two hits, driving in two runs while scoring two, as Milligan won the opener 9-6. Alyson Bowman picked up two more hits to continue her hot streak.
   Brandy Waddle pitched two and two-thirds innings in relief of starter Ashley Fine.
   In the nightcap Milligan jumped out to a 12-0 lead and coasted to a 16-4 victory over the Lady Rams. Nine straight Lady Buffs batters reached with two out in the second inning as the Buffs pushed eight runs across.
   Bowman ripped two more hits and drove in three runs, while Lauren Keister matched that effort.
   Waddle pitched a five inning complete game to pick up her fourth win of the season against two losses. Waddle allowed only six hits and struck out seven.
   ETSU splits first two in spring fling
   BOWLING GREEN, KY. -- On Friday afternoon the East Tennessee State Lady Buccaneers defeated home-standing Indiana-University Purdue University Indianapolis 3-2, but fell in the second contest to Bradley by an 8-0 count.
   Freshman third baseman Lindsay Lane hit a two-run homer to tie the score after IUPUI had taken a 2-0 lead after two frames. Lane's blast scored Julia Chance who had walked.
   Extra innings were needed to decide this one and catcher Sheryl Clark doubled to open the extra frame scoring Amy Moore. Freshman pitcher Courtney Jenkins went the distance to even her record at 2-2. Jenkins allowed six hits while striking out five in eight innings.
   Bradley blanks Bucs
   Sophomore pitcher Tiffany Vandergriff pitched a complete game, but was shelled in the early going. Vandergriff surrendered four earned runs and 10 hits while striking out three.
   The Lady Bucs could muster just a pair of hits off Bradley starter Sandra Britt, by senior Melanie Collins and sophomore first baseman Miranda Byerly.
