from staff reports

The Milligan College men's and women's track teams earned seven national qualifiers and set four school records at the Virginia Tech Challenge this past weekend.
Sophomore Chris Wright led the men's team with national qualifying marks in the 1000 meters (2:33) and 3000 meters (8:39). His time in the 3000 ranks 7th nationally and breaks the Milligan record previously held by Ryan Starr.
Freshmen Josh Ferry and Sean Bowman bettered previous national marks in the 800 meters and mile, respectively. Ferry's 800 time currently ranks 4th nationally.
Former Science Hill standout Jair Collie also ran a personal best in the 800 meters.
On the women's side, indoor 5000 meter national champion Marta Zimon broke the school record and ran a national qualifying time of 10:10 in the 3000 meters.
Sophomore Megan Lease also qualified in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:37. Junior Lauren Gross continues to show improvement with a new lifetime best of 19:05 in the 5000 meters.
Daniel Boone graduate Allison Langrel bettered her 400 meter school record by half a second.
The women's distance medley relay team of Lease, Langrel, Amber Peace and Zimon also qualified for nationals, and broke the school record set earlier this season.
Both the Buffs and Lady Buffs will compete this Friday at Appalachian State.
