from staff reports
GREENEVILLE, N.C. -- Some solid pitching kicked
off the Milligan College baseball season as the Buffaloes routed
North Greeneville by 2-1 and 4-0 scores on Wednesday.
In the opener Dustin Barrett hurled six frames
with four strikeouts and a walk before giving way to Aaron Wallus
who recorded his first save.
In the nightcap Matt Simmons and two relievers
pithced the Buffs to a shutout victory.
"I'm happy with the first day," said Buffs coach
Danny Clark. "Not so much the hitting, but that will come around.
The pitching was solid."
Benji Whittemore was one-for-three in each game
and David Rusaw - a freshman - had three base knocks on the
day.
Rob Maynard and Chad Davis each contributed an
inning of work to back Simmons six frame stint.
