Milligan knocks off Wesleyan

   ATHENS -- The Milligan College Buffaloes used a solid three-point weapon to their advantage in a big 77-74 victory over Tennessee Wesleyan last night.
   Milligan led by eight at the half and fought off a second half charge by Wesleyan late.
   Jonathan Harris came up big with a solid 20-point effort for the Buffaloes despite a solid array of shooting from Wesleyan.
   J.B. Watkins had 21 points for the home squad, who also tallied double digits from Balford McLeod (13 points), Paul Scott (13 points), and Mike Brock (10 points).
   Milligan's biggest victory took place on the boards with a solid 16 rebound effor from Craig Emmert who also tallied 17 points. Todd Davis contributed 14 towards the Buffs.
   The Lady Buffaloes weren't as fortunate on the road, as they suffered a 74-59 loss to Wesleyan.
   Milligan was within four points at the end of the first half, but trailed throughout most of the second.
   Wesleyan had 21 points from two of their ladies in Niki Dixon and Renee Robinson. Monique Herron also tipped in 12. Joy Clark led the Lady Buffaloes with 14 points.
   Ginny White, Kristen Kerkvliet and Amanda Hammons just fell short of the double digit mark. Milligan shot 39 percent in the contest, while Wesleyan was 51 percent.
