SoCon honors Bucs' Childress

ASHEVILLE, NC -- The Southern Conference today
named Dimeco Childress of East Tennessee State and David Schuck
of UNC Greensboro as its men's basketball Co-Players of the
Week.
Childress, a 6-3, 175-pound senior guard from
Columbia, Tenn., has helped the Bucs win seven straight games.
Childress had a career-high 42 points in a Feb. 16 win at
home over Western Carolina. He also scored 13 points against
UNC Greensboro on Feb. 12 and added 24 points in a win over
Furman on Feb. 18.
For the week, Childress shot 59 percent from
the floor (31 of 53) while handing out 12 assists and averaging
3.0 rebounds per game.
Schuck, a 6-8, 208-pound senior forward from
Greensboro, NC, averaged 24.3 points in three games for the
Spartans last week. Schuck scored 24 points at East Tennessee
State on Feb. 12; tossed in a career-high 30 in a win over
VMI on Feb. 16, and then talled 19 points in a victory at
Appalachian State on Feb. 18. He also recorded a double-double
in the VMI game by adding 13 rebounds to go along with his
30 points.
For the week, Schuck averaged 8.0 rebounds per
game, mad 62 percent of his field goal attempts (23 of 37)
and had three blocked shots and six steals.
Also receiving strong consideration were Sean
Peterson of Georgia Southern who averaged 21.7 points in three
games last week; Michael Joseph of The Citadel who had a career-high
25 points at Georgia Southern, and College of Charleston,s
Jeff Bolton who scored 27 points in a win over Chattanooga
on Feb. 16.
