ETSU fares well in track event

   KNOXVILLE -- East Tennessee State's track team recorded several top ten finishes in the Tennessee Indoor Invitational hosted by the University of Tennessee at Stokley Athletic Center over the weekend.
   The women excelled in the field events. Cheryl Howard jumped 5-1 to earn fifth place in the high jump. In the long jump, Johnson City's own Kristin Thurman finished seventh with a jump of 16 feet, 7 1/4 inches, while teammate Brooke Deacon was eighth with a jump of 16 feet, 1 inch.
   The men also performed well in field events. Charvin Clark, also a wide receiver on the Buc football team, jumped 23 feet, 7 1/2 inches to finish fourth in the long jump. In the shot put, Josh Artau threw for 45 feet, 10 3/4 inches to finish ninth. Adam Woods was fourth in the pole vault with a 13 feet, 5 1/4 inch vault.
   Next Friday, the Bucs will host the Southern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Mini Dome.
