Hendry has record-setting hoop performance at MMA

from staff reports

Ronnie Hendry of Roan Mountain led the Massanutten Military Academy Colonels junior varsity basketball team to a 72-59 victory over the Colonial Beach High School Drifters in a game Thursday at Woodstock, Va.
Cadet Hendry hit six treys from the shooting guard position to tie and all-time MMA record for junior varsity basketball while scoring 28 points and collecting 10 assists and five blocks in the victory over Colonial Beach (last year's Delaney Athletic Conference JV champion).
Also making a big contribution to the win over the arch-rival Drifters was MMA point guard Anthony Olivera of Jersey City, N.J., chipping in 15 points and 10 assists.
Using the one-two punch of Hendry and Olivera, the Colonels are at 6-3 for the JV season, with a good chance of making the playoffs through the tough Delaney Conference.
Cadet Hendry is the grandson of Earl R. Hendry of Roan Mountain and is a freshman at the military school, which was established in 1899.
