Lady Buccaneers repel Wofford

   SPARTANBURG, S.C.-- East Tennessee State defeated Wofford Saturday from Benjamin Johnson Arena, 80-65.
   Tiffani Mayes recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 21 points and 15 rebounds, while B.J. Banjo's 17 points tied a career high.
   Wofford used a 13-4 run midway through the first half to take a 28-27 lead, but ETSU rebounded for a six-point advantage at the break, 37-31.
   ETSU's leading scorer, Kiya Verdell, was silenced by the Terrier defense. Verdell scored just five points on 2-of-13 shooting from the floor.
   She did manage five assists and garnered a game-high five steals on the defensive end. Meanwhile, Lauren Trantham tallied double digits in scoring for the second consecutive game with 16 points in addition to seven rebounds.
   The Terriers were led by 21 points from Brie Bradshaw, followed by Mary Jo Yee who scored 16 on 4-of-6 shooting from the outside. Ricaye Harris and Nakia Mister each netted 10.
   With the win, the Lady Bucs improve to 8-8 overall and 8-3 in the Southern Conference. Wofford falls to 0-18, 0-11 in the SoCon.
   East Tennessee State returns to Memorial Center this Monday, Jan. 26 for a much-anticipated rematch with Furman.
   The Lady Paladins handed ETSU an 83-58 loss in the league opener. ETSU has since gone on to win eight of its last 10 game versus SoCon opponents. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. followed by the Buccaneer men's basketball game with Wofford.
