Ferry earns qualifier in men's 800

from staff reports

Day one of ETSU's Niswonger Invitational saw Milligan College freshmen Josh Ferry finish 7th in the final of the men's 800 meters.
The 2003 Indiana state champion ran a time of 1:55.61 and secured a spot at the NAIA Indoor National Championships held March 4-6.
"Josh has a great deal of talent and this was a great start to his indoor season, but the 800 meter race takes time to master," said head coach Chris Layne.
Ferry's time currently ranks No. 2 nationally (NAIA) and is a new season-opening best mark. He'll join his Milligan teammates tomorrow afternoon for the final of the men's distance medley relay.
"I'm pleased, but I know I have more room to improve, I'm looking forward to the races ahead," said Ferry.
In other Milligan action, Daniel Boone graduate Allison Langrel competed in her first-ever indoor track meet and won her preliminary heat of the 400 meters.
Day two of the invitational starts at 8am with the women's 5000 meter run.
