'Betsy swimmers outshine Sullivan

Highlighted by Evan Lindauer's state-qualifying effort in
the 100 backstroke, Elizabethton swam its way to a 143-125
victory over Sullivan Central on Tuesday night.
Lindauer qualified with a 1:06.59, which was also good enough
for first place in the event. He also won the 200 individual
medley, recording a time of 2:28.29.
Blake Dugger also came through with a pair of first-place
finishes for the Cyclone boys, capturing the 200 freestyle
(2:13.61) as well as the 400/500 freestyle (6:20.81).
Eric Crowe, 26.83 in 50 freestyle; Justin Conway, 1:20.75
in 100 butterfly; Craig Shaw, 57.11 in 100 freestyle; and
Matt Bowers, 1:16.18 in 100 breaststroke; chipped in victories
for Elizabethton, whose "A" team won the 200 freestyle relay
(Crowe, Conway, Dugger, Trey Snyder) and 400 freestyle relay
(Crowe, Bowers, Shaw, Lindauer).
Furthermore, the Cyclone boys were first in the 200 medley
(Lindauer, Bowers, Dugger, Shaw), and Shaw, 100 backstroke
(1:10.29); Bowers, 100 butterfly (1:21.77); and Crowe, 400/500
freestyle (7:13.74), contributed runner-up points.
As for the Cyclone girls, Ruth Ann Johnson showed the way
in both the 200 individual medley (2:42.15) and 400/500 freestyle
(6:56.52).
Sarah Burgoyne added a first-place showing in the 50 freestyle
(29.31).
Second-place swims were provided by Sarah Key in the 100 freestyle
(1:09.42) and 100 breaststroke (1:35.00), Burgoyne in the
100 backstroke (1:26.09), Darby Crawford in the 200 freestyle
(3:02.11) and Danielle Maughon in the 50 freestyle (32.035).
The 200 freestyle relay saw the 'Betsy girls "A" team (Crawford,
Lindsay Norris, Burgoyne, Johnson) claim the No. 1 spot with
a time of 2:13.26.
The Lady Cyclones were second in the 200 medley as Amber Garland,
Maughon, Key and Burgoyne posted a 2:24.88.
Elizabethton will host Abingdon, Va. this Thursday night at
