Jr. Bulldogs slip by Bars

from staff reports

Using a potent second-quarter push, then holding off its opponent down the stretch, Hampton registered a 52-50 road victory over Boones Creek on Tuesday night.
Tied with the Bars at 11 entering the second quarter, the Junior Bulldogs hit their stride and rolled to a 29-20 halftime advantage.
That nine-point cushion would come in handy, due to the fact Boones Creek outscored Hampton 15-9 in the fourth quarter.
"This was a good win for us over a very talented, well-coached ballclub," said Hampton coach Leon Tolley. "Boones Creek is a tough place to play, and we were very fortunate to escape with a win.
"I am very proud of our team's effort."
The one-two punch of Jarred Irick and Dustin Jaynes spearheaded the Bulldog offense, as both players netted 12 points. Lucas Andrews had a double-digit night of his own, scoring 10, and Bobby James chipped in eight.
Micah Bradley paced the Bars with 14 points and a pair of 3-pointers. Alec Johnson added 11 points.
Hampton, now 16-2, 5-0 with the win, entertains Hunter on Friday at 12:30 p.m.
