Falcons take a pair over Longhorns

   CHURCH HILL -- Down 42-37 with five minutes left in the fourth quarter, Volunteer outscored Johnson County 18-3 over the time remaining to win 55-45 in a key Watauga Conference matchup on Saturday night.
   Charles Lindholm scored 17 points and Jay Hughes added 14 for the Falcons in their winning efforts. They moved into sole possession of first place in the league at 4-1 with the win and now sport a record of 10-4 overall.
   For Johnson County, who has a record of 6 wins versus 12 losses, Michael Lipford led all scorers with 19 points. Justin Genaille ranked second on the team with seven points.
   Next on the docket for the Longhorns are the Golden Raiders of Sullivan North.
   Volunteer 52, Johnson County 34 (Girls)
   In the girls contest, the Lady Falcons had a big second quarter outscoring Johnson County 14-3 en' route to the 18-point lead.
   Jacklyn Talbert paced Volunteer's scoring efforts with 15 points. Morgan Arnold and Kayla Beverly each added eight points for the Lady Falcons.
   For the Lady Longhorns, Elena Owens matched the best scoring effort with 15 points. April McCloud added six points, while Brittany Cole and Laura Peters scored four apiece.
