Science Hill standout to run for MC

from staff reports

Science Hill cross country and track standout Nathan Bowers has announced he'll run for Milligan College in the fall of 2004.
Bowers led the Science Hill program through the 2003 season before suffering an injury at the Big Seven Conference meet that sidelined him prior to the region and state championships. His time of 16:09 for 5000 meters was the fastest among high schoolers in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.
Bowers, who won this years Trailblazer Invitational, earned top 10 finishes at Panther Creek, Western Carolina, UT-Chattanooga, and the Big Seven Conference Meet.
"Nathan's balance on and off the field of play was very attractive to Milligan. He'll play a big role in our continous climb to a national calibre program," said head coach Chris Layne.
Milligan will open up the 2004 indoor season at ETSU's Niswonger Invitational on January 23-24.
