Lady 'Clones post JV win

from staff reports
KINGSPORT -- Led by the sparkling play of Brittany Smith, the Elizabethton Lady Cyclones snared a 52-25 victory over Sullivan North in a junior varsity contest on Tuesday night.
Smith tossed in a game-high 15 points for 'Betsy, and hit one three-pointer.
"Brittany Smith played well -- she shot it well," said EHS coach Harry Farthing. "That's the best game she's played in high school so far. She really stepped it up."
Elizabethton, which outscored the Lady Golden Raiders 9-2 in the first quarter before seizing a 26-10 halftime lead, received 10 points in the game from Marti Bush, and eight apiece from Cameron Crapps and Victoria Hopson.
The Lady Cyclones (3-0, 7-1) were playing for the first time since Dec. 16.
"We played OK," said Farthing. "They pressed us a little bit. People hadn't pressed us much, and we were a little rusty against it. We were a little sloppy -- basically, I think, because of the layoff.
"Defensively we were pretty tonight, and I thought we gave good effort."
Next up for the Lady Cyclones is a trip to Unicoi County on Friday night.
