Lady Junior Cyclones fend off R.
Robinson
from staff reports
Ross Robinson made it interesting down the stretch,
but couldn't keep the T.A. Dugger Lady Junior Cyclones from
once again having their way.
Holding off a Robinson fourth-quarter rally,
T.A. Dugger captured a 41-39 conference victory on Tuesday
evening in a makeup game.
Brittany Smith (7-7 FTs) and Tia Nave led the
way in the scoring department, netting 13 points apiece for
the Lady Cyclones, while Marti Bush put together an all-around
effort of nine rebounds, seven points and three steals.
Michaela Pietrowski added nine boards, four steals
and three blocked shots to the TAD cause.
Up 24-18 at the break, the Lady Cyclones built
a 15-point cushion late in the third stanza.
The Lady Redskins made their move in the fourth,
creating a nip-and-tuck finish, but TAD had the means to withstand
the challenge as Bush nailed a free throw with 10 seconds
to play, giving the 'Betsy bunch a four-point edge.
