Zimon national qualifier

BOONE, N.C. -- Day two of the Fifth Appalachian
State track meet meant the second NAIA national qualifier for
the Milligan College women's track team.
Freshman Marta Zimon, who arrived from Lodz, Poland
less than one week ago, finished third on Saturday in the women's
3000 meters with a time of 10:36.35. Appy State senior Sarah
Primeau battled back from Zimon's early sub-ten minute pace
to win the race in 10:30.59.
Freshman Megan Lease, who ran a national mark in
the 5000 meters on day one of the meet, finished 8th in the
women's mile with a new personal best time of 5:29.45.
On the men's side, senior Terence Gadsden finished
strong in the 400 meters with a season best time of 51.48. Former
Milligan All-American Philip Rotich easily won the 3000 meters
in 8:46.08. Also competing under the direction of Milligan head
coach Chris Layne was former ETSU 400 meter standout Evan Hawkins,
who finished seventh in the men's 400 meters with a time of
49.55.
The Buffs and Lady Buffs will compete next at ETSU's
Niswonger Track and Field Invitational on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
