'Horns stymie North

   MOUNTAIN CITY--Johnson County swept a pair of games from Sullivan North on Saturday night at Ray Shoun gym as both the boys and girls varsity squad proved too much for the Golden Raiders.
   The Lady Longhorns (1-6 WC, 2-12 overall). won for the first time in Watauga Conference play, riding a game-high 16 points from Nikki Davidson.
   Elena Owens added 11 and Courtney Shaw pitched in with seven for the victorious 'Horns.
   Kristen Hughes led the Lady Raiders with an 11-point effort.

   The Longhorns - led by 19 points from guard Judd Shoun - held the Raiders to just five points in the opening period as Johnson County took a 15-4 advantage.
   Johnson County led 42-24 at the break and never trailed again as the 'Horns raised their Watauga Conference mark to 4-3 (11-8 overall).
   Sullivan North (1-5 WC, 3-9 overall) was led by 17 points from Phillip Scarsellone, while teammate Michael Buchanan tallied 14 for coach John McCrary's squad.
   Tommy Short scored 17 for JC, while Matt Cornett added 13 and Michael Lipford pitched in with 12.
