Patriots whirled away by Junior Cyclones

   T.A. Dugger was a defensive tornado. Unicoi County got caught in the way.
   Holding the Patriots to only three points between the second and third quarters, the Junior Cyclones rolled to a 63-18 season-ending victory on the T.A. Dugger floor Tuesday evening.
   What was a close game at the end of the first quarter -- TAD led 15-9 -- quickly turned into a rout as the Junior Cyclones outscored Unicoi 21-1 in the second stanza.
   The score was 47-12 by the end of the third period.
   Michael Rader was high man for the Junior 'Clones, pumping in 16 points, while Derrick Nave totaled 14 points to go along with several steals.
   Postseason action is up next for TAD. The eighth-grade Middle Seven Conference tournament will be held Jan. 25-31 at Vance Junior High in Bristol.

   MOUNTAIN CITY -- Outscoring the Junior Longhorns 17-4 in the second period, the Tigers put on another impressive performance to score a convincing win.
   Charles Peters poured in 23 points for the Hunter club, which got 12, including a pair of 3-pointers, from Josh Lowe. The Tigers (16-2), hitting 22 of 46 shots from the field, finished out conference play with a perfect 8-0 mark.
   Nathan Paisley tallied 10 points and Kevin Boyd eight for Johnson County.
