Frightening incident mars Unaka trip
from staff reports
Visiting Chattanooga for a basketball doubleheader,
things turned frightening for the Unaka Lady Rangers as paramedics
rushed to room 333 at the Days Inn on East 20th street after
16-year-old Tabitha Tester could not be revived after alcohol
poisoning.
Tester was rushed to the Intensive Care unit
of Erlanger Medical Center before being moved to a regular
room. On Saturday, Tester was discharged from the hospital.
Police reports showed that several early attempts
to wake up Tester failed. She was then rushed to Erlanger,
where she was placed on life support to keep her heart beating.
Her parents were rushed to Chattanooga from Carter County.
After the incident, several players from the
Unaka squad were missing from the team lineup in Saturday's
34-30 loss to Boyd-Buchanan.
