The 'Dogs came ready to put the bite on the Cyclone junior varsity team Friday, but it was the Cyclones who were barking the loudest when the horn sounded.
The Elizabethton boys junior varsity defeated Hampton 65-55 Friday evening at Treadway Gym. The Cyclones were out and running early as they built a 21-10 lead and never looked back.
Chris Vaughn was high point man for the Cyclones with 12, and Jordan Bray knocked down 10 coming off the bench for coach Richard VanHuss.
Phillip Garland collected nine, followed by Derek Wilson with eight and Michael Porter with seven.
Mitchell Morton was the "Big Dog" for Hampton, scoring a game high 13 points. Adam Miller and Shane Campbell both had a big night hitting for 10 each, with Josh Moss contributing eight.
In lady junior varsity action, the Cyclones prevailed over the Bulldogs by a score of 43-36. Valneesha Redd led the Cyclones to victory by tallying 13 points.
Nikki Crowe added 8, Valerie Kauffeld 6, and Abbie Jenkins 5 for the Lady Cyclones. Jenkins netted her first points of the season off a three and a deuce.
Even though Allison Cook did not score, she ripped down 11 big boards for Coach Farthings squad.
Kristi Clark could be a bomber pilot because of the way she was launching three's for the Bulldogs. Clarke was the leading scoring with 15, all from beyond the three-point arc.
Heather Chambers netted 7, while teammate Jessica Tolley contributed with five.
