The Elizabethton freshman basketball team was looking to break out of the dog-gone losing column. The only problem was that they had to go to the 'Dog House to try and do it.
Powered by 15 points by Hampton's Shane Campbell and 13 from Jacob Moss, the homestanding Bulldogs didn't make things any easier for the Cyclones, taking a relatively easy 66-42 victory in VanHuss-White Gym Thursday night.
The game was all even at eight after one period, but that would be the last time EHS would be close the rest of the way as Hampton went on a 16-7 scoring binge in the second period to take a 24-15 lead into the intermission.
In the second half of play, Hampton put it on auto-pilot, as they simply cruised the rest of the way. The 'Dogs outscored the Cyclones 42-27 in the second half.
Elizabethton's Keith Crawford showed the way for the Cyclones, hitting 12 on the night. Stephen Bowers added eight and Ricky Garrison nailed two treys for six points.
