Arrests
* David Edward Phillips, 33, 216 Garland
Branch Road, Watauga, was arrested Sunday just before noon
by Carter County Sheriff's Department Constable Jerry Miller
on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in court.
* Paul Anthony Burrow, 28, 279 Roosevelt Ave.,
was arrested Sunday night by CCSD Sgt. Keith Range and charged
with driving on a suspended license, violation of the vehicle
registration law and violation of the financial responsibility
law. He is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court March
3.
* Robert Wade Causby, 38, of Newland, N.C., was
arrested Sunday afternoon by CCSD Sgt. T. Lowe and charged
with vandalism under domestic violence. He is scheduled to
appear in General Sessions Court today.
* Wilma Jean Asbury, 39, 626 U.S. Highway 91,
was arrested Saturday afternoon by CCSD Sgt. T. Lowe on a
warrant charging her with violation of probation. She is scheduled
to appear in General Sessions Court today.
* Sharon Anne Fox, 41, 4977 U.S. Highway 19E,
Hampton, was arrested Friday night by CCSD Deputy Donald White
on a warrant charging her with violation of probation.
* Gregory W. Ward, 35, 311 Church St., Hampton,
was arrested Friday morning by CCSD Deputy Johnny Miller on
a warrant charging him with driving on an expired driver's
license. He is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court
March 3.
* Danny Davis, 35, 2801 S. Roan St., Johnson
City, was arrested Saturday evening by CCSD Deputy Dave Ryan
on a capias warrant charging him with failure to appear in
court.
* Jennifer L. Pate, 21, 146 Paige Ave., was arrested
Friday evening by Elizabethton Police Department Sgt. John
Bailey and charged with first offense DUI and driving on a
suspended license. She is scheduled to appear in General Sessions
Court Feb. 21.
* Todd D. Briggs, 19, of 1109 Johnson Ave., Johnson
City, and Justin J. Mabery, 20, of 302 Whitney St., Johnson
City, were arrested Monday afternoon by Johnson City Bureau
of Police Inv. Scott Jenkins and charged with three counts
of burglary each. The arrests were the result of an investigation
into the burglary of businesses in the N. Roan St./Browns
Mill Rd. area over the weekend. The two men are scheduled
to appear in General Sessions Court today.
Theft
* Chris Fox, 174 Greenlee Road, Johnson City,
reported to CCSD Sgt. Penny Cornett on Monday morning that
sometime during the previous night, someone broke into his
truck while it was parked at his residence and stole a large
amount of tools. He reported that the perpetrators also broke
into his wife's vehicle and his son's vehicle, both of which
were also parked at the residence, and stole more tools and
cash. The value of the property stolen was approximately $1,300.
* Johnny Rash, Dave Buck Road, Johnson City,
reported to CCSD Sgt. Penny Cornett on Monday morning that
sometime during the previous night, someone broke into his
truck while it was parked at his residence and stole several
tools including a Craftsman circular saw and an 18 volt Rayobi
drill. There was no estimate available for the value of the
tools that were stolen.
* Kenneth Hopson, 117 Norman Joines Road, reported
to CCSD Sgt. Keith Range that someone had entered his residence
on Saturday and had stolen an HP Digital Camera belonging
to him that is valued at $1,200. He reported that he suspects
a male subject known to him.
* Fred Hicks, 175 Lacy Hollow Road, reported
to CCSD Sgt. Keith Range that on Sunday, someone stole some
prescription medication belonging to him from his residence.
He reported that he suspects a female subject known to him.
* Todd Leach, 248 Leach Road, Johnson City, reported
to CCSD Deputy Kenny Cornett that someone had stolen approximately
$600 worth of copper wire from his property sometime between
Saturday and Sunday morning.
* John R. Brinkley, of Thomasville, N.C., reported
to CCSD Deputy Tim Tester that someone had broken into a residence
he owns located at 5048 U.S. Highway 321, Butler, sometime
in the last two weeks and had stolen several items including
a VCR, tools and a pair of binoculars.
* Rebecca Dawn Vest and Christopher S. Hicks,
both of 2542 Elizabethton Highway, Johnson City, reported
to EPD PTL Tonya Range that while their 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser
was parked outside of White's Groceries, 700 Stateline Road,
someone entered the vehicle and stole Vest's purse containing
$35, three prescription medications and identification cards
as well as a leather jacket belonging to Hicks.
Vandalism
* James J. Smith reported to CCSD Deputy Kenny
Cornett that sometime in the last two weeks, someone had broken
several windows out of Tiger Valley School. He reported that
this is not the first time vandalism has occurred there.
Missing Person
* Sonny James Acosta, 16, was reported
missing by his mother, Deborah Hubbard, 247 Taylor Ave. She
reported to CCSD Sgt. T. Lowe that Acosta had left home on
foot Thursday night and had left a note stating "not to expect
him back anytime soon," according to reports. Acosta is described
as a white male with brown hair, five feet, three inches tall
and weighing approximately 120 pounds. He was last seen wearing
baggy black jeans, a black sweatshirt and a black baseball
cap with a red British cross on it.
