* Larry Dean Buchanan, 48, 225 Beasley St., was
arrested Tuesday evening by Carter County Sheriff's Department
Deputy Tim Tester and charged with first offense aggravated
DUI. According to reports, Buchanan had a .26 blood alcohol
content which is more than three times over the legal limit.
He is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court Dec. 2.
* Randy Ray Hopson, 43, Buck Mountain Road, Roan
Mountain, was arrested Tuesday night by CCSD Deputy Tim Tester
and charged with driving on a suspended license. He is scheduled
to appear in General Sessions Court Dec. 2.
* Jessica Hope Coggins, 24, 1308 E. Lynnwood
Circle, Johnson City, was arrested Tuesday night by CCSD Deputy
Kenny Cornett on a warrant charging her with violation of
* Timothy L. Shelton, 33, 701 Oak Drive, was
arrested Tuesday by CCSD Lt. Rocky Croy on three outstanding
warrants. One was a capias for failure to appear, one was
a capias for failure to serve jail time, and the other charged
him with theft under $500.
* John Paul Arnett, 41, 115 Williams St., Hampton,
was arrested Tuesday by CCSD Constable Bobby Canter and charged
with second offense DUI and first offense driving on a revoked
* Gary Cooper, of Cash Express, 2123 W. Elk Ave.,
reported to Elizabethton Police Department Ptl. Jennifer Mayberry
on Monday, that sometime during the weekend, someone forced
their way into the business through the back door and stole
approximately $150 from the business' safe. He stated that
he suspects a female subject recently fired from the business
because the safe was not forced open and a combination is
required to open it.
* Angela Marie Robbins, 309 South View Circle,
Apt. B, reported to EPD Capt. Rusty Verran that sometime between
5:30 p.m. Monday and 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, someone entered her
1995 Ford Probe while it was parked in front of her residence
and stole a Road Gear AM-FM CD Player valued at $70.
* Deanna Corder, 125 Sunny Acres Drive, reported
to CCSD Deputy Eric Buck that just after 9 a.m. Tuesday, someone
tried to force their way into her residence but did not make
their way into it. According to reports, Buck observed pry
marks on the front door of Corder's residence. She reported
that she suspects a male subject known to her and gave the
officer a description of the subject and of the vehicle the
subject is driving.
* Betty Pelletier, 347 Highway 91, reported to
CCSD Lt. Randy Bowers on Friday that while she was parked
at Fish Springs Marina, Butler, on Oct. 6, someone entered
her vehicle and stole her purse which contained $11,500 in
* Willie Moffitt, 430 Beasley St., Apt. 2, reported
to EPD Ptl. Jason Shaw on Monday afternoon that a female subject
known to him had helped him prepare his tax return last year
then direct deposited the amount, $984, into her own bank
account. Moffitt had papers from the Department of the Treasury
tracing his tax return, showing it deposited into an account
that did not have his name on it. Moffitt told Shaw the suspect
was supposed to give him the money and had not done so. He
stated the suspect told him she had given the money to one
of his daughters. Moffitt stated that his daughter had received
no money from the suspect.
* Early Wednesday morning, the Elizabethton Fire
Department and EPD Ptl. Jason McCall reported to a residence
fire at 1961 Milligan Highway. The fire apparently started
on the carport or in the wall near the carport, according
to reports, though an exact origin and cause of the fire have
yet to be determined. The house sustained severe damage but
was unoccupied at the time of the incident. Police contacted
the owner, Sammy Burnette, on his cellular phone. He informed
police that he was on his way to visit family in New Mexico
and was in Texas at that time.
* Heather Michelle Julian, 17, was reported missing
by her mother, Lisa Copas, 101 Church St. Julian is described
as a white female with green eyes and brown hair, five feet,
seven inches tall and weighing approximately 115 pounds and
wearing glasses. She was last seen by her mother around 6:30
a.m. on Nov. 5 at 2807 Roan St., Johnson City.
