Arrests

  
* Tammy Hughes, 35, 198 Dry Branch Road, was arrested Monday by Elizabethton Police Department officer Shannon Peters and charged with ten counts of animal cruelty from previous warrants. She is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Oct. 22.
   * Kathy J. Morton, 28, 1252 Bluefield Avenue Apt. # L-7, was arrested Monday by EPD Watch Commander Arthur Smithdeal on charges of shoplifting. According to the EPD, Peebles Department Store manager, Erica Hodge, advised Smithdeal when he arrived that a female had left the building wearing and carrying stolen items from the store. Smithdeal located Morton in the parking lot. She had taken approximately $317 in items from Peebles. She was issued a summons for theft under $500 and is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Oct. 7.
   * Matthew Lee Cox, 20, 861 Weaver Branch Road, Bluff City, was arrested Tuesday by Carter County Sheriff's Department officer M. Carlock on charges of violation of probation.
  
Theft

   *
On Monday, Mary Elizabeth Carr reported to CCSD officials that, on two different dates recently, someone had stolen a .9 mm handgun and a black leather Harley Davidson jacket from her place of employment. Investigation is ongoing.
   * Rebecca Truschke on Monday reported to CCSD Sgt. Keith Range that her medications had been stolen. The medicines were in prescription bottles with the name Dr. Shipley written on them.
   * CCSD officer Brad Hamm on Friday was dispatched to the Dollar General Store, U.S. Highway 321, Hampton regarding a shoplifting incident. A clerk at the store advised Hamm that she saw a female customer take some items. The clerk advised the suspect was driving a brown Chevy Nova with tag# AHQ--712. Investigation is ongoing.
