   * Tommy Gerald Adkins II, 32, 306 Delaware St., Johnson City, was arrested Wednesday by Carter County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Keith Range after he, as well as Deputy Jeff Markland and Investigator Chris Pierce responded to the Fast Stop convenience store in Valley Forge regarding stolen checks. The owner of the business, Orval Pollard, had received three returned checks from a bank. According to the report, a stop-payment had been issued because the checks, totaling $360, had been reported stolen from Melton Properties. Pollard said Adkins, who had cashed the other three checks, came into the store and attempted to cash another stolen check in the amount of $120. At that time, Pollard locked the front door of the business in order to detain Adkins and called authorities. Adkins was arrested and charged with theft under $500 and forgery. Upon inventory of the vehicle Adkins drove, a blue checkbook containing several other checks belonging to Melton Properties was found.
   * Ada Elizabeth Miller, 20, 1201 Jonesborough Road, Erwin, was arrested Wednesday by CCSD Sgt. Patrick Johnson after the officer was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Price Road. Miller was charged with DUI and driving on a suspended license.
   * Glen Garrison, 39, Rocky Top Private Drive, Watauga, was arrested Wednesday by CCSD Sgt. Keith Range and charged with being a fugitive from justice after the sheriff's department received information that Garrison was wanted out of Scott County, Va., on a warrant charging him with possession of a controlled substance.
   * William Lee White, 39, 195 Norman Joines Road, was arrested Wednesday at his residence by CCSD Lt. Mike Fraley on a capias charging him with failure to report an accident, leaving the scene of an accident, and a 10th-offense of driving on a revoked license.
   * Katherine Helene Carpenter, 42, 110 Brice Lane, Johnson City, was arrested Wednesday by CCSD Sgt. Patrick Johnson after the officer was dispatched to a traffic accident on Price Road. Carpenter was charged with public intoxication.
   * Chris Carver, 23, 107 Taylor Hollow Road, was arrested Tuesday by CCSD Investigator Chris Pierce after he and Investigator Laverne Julian observed a vehicle traveling north on Highway 91 at a high rate of speed and recognized Carver, who has active warrants. Officers got behind the vehicle and Carver attempted to flee, driving in a reckless manner, according to the report. Officers followed him into a private drive where Carver pulled the vehicle behind a trailer, jumped out and then tried to flee on foot. He was taken into custody by investigators after a brief pursuit and was charged with theft over $1,000 and violation of probation.
   * Kimberly Dawn Morton, 26, 119 Hartley Road, was arrested Tuesday by CCSD Deputy Donald White on a warrant charging her with assault.
   * Claude Harvey Banner, 34, 643 Poga Road, Butler, was arrested Tuesday by CCSD Deputy Donald White on a warrant charging him with driving on a suspended license and fleeing to avoid apprehension.
   * Miguel Alvarez, 21, 221 Ridge Hollow Road, Erwin, was arrested Tuesday by CCSD Sgt. Keith Range on a capias charging him with failure to appear, failure to appear on Schedule II and simple possession.
   * Jacqueline Heather Caudle, 26, 203 Mayfield Drive, was arrested Wednesday by CCSD Lt. Mike Fraley after the officer was dispatched to Highway 91 at South Street regarding a one-vehicle accident with property damage. Caudle was charged with DUI and violation of implied consent.
   * Charles Robert Bowman, 38, 167 Bristol Hwy., was arrested Tuesday by Elizabethton Police Department Ptl. Jack Ramsey and charged with violation of probation, failure to appear on public intoxication, and failure to appear on shoplifting. Bowman also was arrested on a juvenile attachment.
   * Josie Elaine White, 30, 221 Bulldog Hollow, was arrested Wednesday by EPD Ptl. Brooke Mullins after officers were dispatched to Food City regarding a fight in the parking lot. White was charged with assault.
   * Jeffery Wallace Teague, 222 Dogwood Acres, Hampton, was issued a summons Wednesday by EPD Ptl. Brooke Mullins citing him for driving on a suspended license, violation of proof of financial responsibility, and violation of light law.
   * Crystal R. Davis, 334 Sims Hill Road, was issued a summons Tuesday by EPD Sgt. Matt Bailey charging her with passing a stopped school bus and violation of financial responsibility.

   * Patricia Grindstaff, 168 Jackson Ave., reported Wednesday to CCSD Chief Deputy James Parrish that when she returned home from work she found that her residence had been entered. Entry appeared to have been made through the back door, which was pried open and the chain lock broken. Missing were several pieces of men's and women's jewelry, approximately $200 in change, and half a carton of Marlboro cigarettes.
   * Terry White, 53, 608 Locust St., reported Tuesday to CCSD Deputy Mike Carlock that someone had taken two four-wheelers -- a 2001 Yamaha "Big Bear" 400 and a 2001 Yamaha "Blaster" 200. The vehicles were taken from a residence on Railroad Grade in Roan Mountain.
   * Herbert Collins, 223 Big Sandy Road, reported Tuesday to CCSD Lt. Bobby Huffman that someone had taken a generator from the residence.
   * Joe Morrell of Tennessee Department of Transportation reported Wednesday to CCSD Deputy Jeff Markland that someone had broken a light and had stolen a winch off a traffic control device left sitting on U.S. Highway 19E near the Crabtree intersection in Roan Mountain.

   * CCSD Lt. Bobby Huffman responded Tuesday to 119 Heaton Ridge Road regarding a tree-trimming accident. According to the report, Jamie Turbyfield, 28, of Roan Mountain was trimming trees at the Heaton Ridge location when a tree kicked back after being cut and struck him in the side. He was transported to Johnson City Medical Center by Wings Air Rescue.
