Arrests
* Jerry D. Blevins, no address listed, was arrested
Friday by officers of Johnson City Police Bureau after they
attempted to stop a Pontiac Grand AM on Market Street near
Indian Ridge Road but the driver refused to stop. A short
time later, the vehicle stopped in front of a residence on
West Main Street and Blevins fled the scene on foot. K-9 Sgt.
Fratz located the subject a short time later, hiding in an
outbuilding. Blevins was charged with felony reckless endangerment,
felony evading arrest, resisting stop, frisk and halt, second-offense
driving on suspended license and violation of registration.
* James Austin, 48, 832 Dyer St., Johnson City,
was arrested Friday by officers of Johnson City Community
Policing Unit on charges of aggravated domestic assault and
carrying a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles). The arrest
was the result of investigation into a domestic assault which
occurred at the residence.
* Susan R. Willis, 30, 224 Panhandle Road, was
issued a summons April 8 by Elizabethton Police Department
Ptl. Mike Sproviero after the officer responded to Wal-Mart.
Loss prevention personnel told the officer that Willis had
been observed in Wal-Mart, where she had been banned after
being charged with shoplifting. She was charged with criminal
trespass.
Burglary/theft
* Daniel L. Shell, 25, 207 Reynolds Road, reported
April 9 to EPD Ptl. Kevin Cable that he had parked a 1991
Mazda MX6 he was selling on the parking lot at Bemberg Center.
Shell said that while parked there, someone broke out the
passenger side window and tried to steal the stereo, breaking
the frame of the rearview mirror on the passenger side. The
perpetrator was unable to get the stereo out but did take
the faceplate.
* Arthur Joe Holmes, 38, 111 Holston Ave., reported
April 8 to EPD Sgt. Brian Fraley that 63 Percocet, 63 Soma,
three Kenny Rogers' CD's and a CD by The Judds were taken
from his vehicle while it was parked at Sav-A-Lot.
* David LaFollette, 22, 152 Grandview Road, Johnson
City, reported April 7 to Carter County Sheriff's Department
Sgt. Penny Cornett that someone removed a large gray metal
Craftsman toolbox full of tools, and a toolbelt from his truck.
* Heather Haun, 25, 120 Christa Drive, reported
April 6 to CCSD Deputy Dave Ryan that someone took a book
of personal checks, issued by an Erwin bank, from her vehicle.
* Joyce Jones, 57, 111 Vanderbilt Drive, Johnson
City, reported April 5 to CCSD Deputy Kenny Cornett that someone
had entered her home and ransacked the residence. The back
door to the residence had been broken open and several items
of jewelry taken.
* Gary Williams, 230 Dawn Drive, reported April
5 to CCSD Sgt. Penny Cornett that he had checked his residence
at 176 Livingston Hollow Road on April 4, and when he returned
April 5, he found the residence had been broken into. Pry
marks were found on the front entrance but entry was not made.
The rear door, however, had been pried open and the house
ransacked, with every drawer and door gone through. Known
missing at the time of the report were a shotgun, VCR, and
several items of jewelry.
* Aris Ward, 77, 1328 Gap Creek Road, reported
April 8 to CCSD Deputy Todd Hamm that someone had entered
his garage and had stolen two chainsaws: a 14-inch Stihl,
model 020; and a 16-inch Homelite XL12.
