Drug arrests
Four people have been arrested on warrants taken
by members of First Judicial District Drug Task Force:
* Christina Ann Pickens, 23, 208-1/2 Allen Ave.,
was arrested Friday by Carter County Sheriff's Department
Deputy Mike Commons on a warrant from DTF charging her with
Sale of Schedule I and conspiracy to sell Schedule I. She
was transported to Carter County Jail by Capt. Rusty Verran,
of Elizabethton Police Department, which also was assisting
DTF.
* Jason Ford Chambers, 25, 208-1/2 Allen Ave.,
Christopher Todd Miller, 24, 127 Hyder Road; and Timothy E.
Tyson Jr., 543 Fitch Drive, Mebane, N.C., were arrested Thursday
by Constable Sgt. Bobby Canter on warrants from DTF. Chambers
was charged with possession of Schedule I, II, IV, and VI.
Miller was charged with possession of Schedule I (heroin),
conspiracy to sell Schedule I, possession of Schedule III,
and possession of drug paraphernalia. Tyson was charged with
possession of Schedule I, possession of Schedule III, and
possession of Schedule VI after DTF agents and CCSD officers
served a search warrant at 2371 Old Elizabethton Hwy., Johnson
City. Agents found five Ecstasy pills, two Loritab, and about
17.6 grams of marijuana. Tyson claimed ownership of all items
found.
Several people also were arrested Thursday by
Elizabethton Police Department officers who were assisting
DTF agents in serving warrants:
* Ernest W. Johns III, 22, 1906 Stateline Road,
was arrested by EPD Ptl. Mike McIntosh at 208-1/2 Allen Ave.
He was charged with sale of Schedule I, conspiracy to distribute
Schedule I, possession of Schedule I, and possession of drug
paraphernalia. Johns also was served a warrant charging him
with failure to appear on driving on suspended license.
* Darrell Manuel, 21, 204 W. Chilhowie, Johnson
City, was arrested Friday by EPD Ptl. Mike McIntosh on warrants
from DTF charging Manuel with three counts sale of Schedule
II. Manuel was taken into custody at Lynnridge B-2, Apt. 122.
* Felicia A. Perkins, 26, Lynnridge B-2, Apt.
122, was arrested Friday by EPD Sgt. Brian Fraley on three
counts sale of Schedule II (crack cocaine). Perkins' parents
were called to take custody of her 3-year-old son.
Arrests
* Christopher Dean Heaton, 34, 67 Kelly Drive,
was arrested Thursday by CCSD Investigator Audrey Covington
after Robert Heaton reported that he had noticed money missing
from the bank account of his 90-year-old mother, for whom
he has power of attorney. At the bank, Robert Heaton found
three checks written to his nephew, Christopher Heaton. Investigator
Covington spoke with the nephew on Thursday and he admitted
taking three checks without his grandmother's consent, filling
the checks out to himself, forging his grandmother's name
on the checks and cashing them. He was charged with three
counts of forgery.
* Angela Nichole Dover, 22, 192 Rosewood Circle,
was arrested Thursday by Constable Sgt. Bobby Canter on a
warrant taken out by CCSD Investigator Chris Pierce charging
her with illegal possession or fraudulent use of a credit/debit
card.
* Deborah Ann Greenwell, 36, 1538 Hwy. 91, was
arrested Thursday by EPD Ptl. Mike McIntosh after the officer
assisted DTF agents at West Town Square Shopping Center. Greenwell
was arrested on a capias charging her with failure to appear
on fines and costs on charges of public intoxication and possession
of drug paraphernalia.
* Jeffery Frank Green, 38, 635 Long Hollow Road,
was arrested Friday by EPD Sgt. Brian Fraley after the officer
met with Investigator Chris Pierce of CCSD at Amigo's Restaurant
to assist deputies with an arrest. Green was taken into custody
without incident and charged with violation of probation.
* Jennifer M. Cruz, 25, 122 Wedgewood Circle,
was issued a summons Friday by EPD Ptl. Jennifer Mayberry.
Mayberry observed two dogs running at large on Wedgewood Circle
on Wednesday and notified the owners to keep the dogs up.
On Thursday, the officer observed one of the dogs, a male
boxer, running through the yard at 115 Wedgewood Circle and
issued Cruz a citation.
* Raymond Keith Anderson, 22, 910-1/2 Cedar Ave.,
was arrested Friday by CCSD Deputy Jim Whaley at 103 Fourth
Ave., in Watauga. Anderson was charged with violation of probation,
sale of Schedule II, and failure to appear on burglary and
theft charges.
Vandalism
* Mike S. Wallace, 45, 300 Watauga Ave., reported
Thursday to EPD Ptl. Kevin Cable that sometime between 7 p.m.
Wednesday and 11:30 a.m. Thursday, someone sliced eight tires
on two vehicles -- a 1995 Ford Mustang and a 1983 Chevy S-10.
Both vehicles were parked in the victim's backyard at the
time. Total damage was estimated at $700.
Jail ceremony
* Sullivan County Sheriff's Office will dedicate
its new jail and administrative offices in a ceremony to be
held noon-4 p.m. April 6. The public is invited.
