Arrests
* Nathaniel B. Rainbolt, 22, no address listed, was
arrested Saturday by Carter County Sheriff's Department Deputy
Sarah Ryan after she responded to a fight at Roadrunner in
Hampton. U.S. Forestry Service law enforcement officer Kim
Coleman was already on the scene when Deputy Ryan arrived
and had separated Rainbolt and the victim, identified as Clark
Self, 25, 102 Birdie Lane. According to the report, the altercation
stemmed from a road rage incident. During a pat down of Rainbolt,
a marijuana smoking pipe with residue was found in his pants
pocket. Rainbolt gave officers permission to search his vehicle.
A glass pipe with residue was found in the center console.
A section of a clear plastic pen shaft with residue and a
section of plastic baggy containing white powder residue believed
to be methamphetamine also was found, along with three boxes
of over-the-counter medication containing ephedrine. Officers
seized $913 in cash and a 1992 Chevrolet Camaro driven by
Rainbolt. He was charged with simple assault, possession of
Schedule II and possession of drug paraphernalia.
* Thurman Carter Campbell, 28, 222 W. I St.,
was arrested Saturday by Elizabethton Police Department Ptl.
Jerry Bradley after the officer was dispatched to the residence
regarding a domestic disturbance. Campbell was charged with
public intoxication and evading arrest.
* James Dexter Campbell, 24, 109 Oscar Banks
Road, Johnson City, was arrested Friday by EPD Ptl. Jack Ramsey
following a traffic stop. He was charged with speeding and
fifth-offense driving on suspended license.
* Melinda Simerly, 19, 128 Isaac Lincoln, was
arrested Thursday by EPD Ptl. Shannon Peters on a warrant
charging her with violation of probation.
* Robby Matheson, 30, 1048 Dry Creek Road, was
arrested Saturday by CCSD Deputy Jeff Markland and charged
with assault under domestic violence.
* Scotty Joe Johnson, 21, 1171 Fall Branch Road,
Mountain City, was arrested Friday by CCSD Deputy Gene Moreland
and charged with forgery.
* Rickie Gene Berry, 36, 250 Big Sandy Road,
was arrested Saturday by CCSD Deputy Jeff Markland and charged
with assault under domestic violence.
* Allen Terry Brewster, 26, 199 Swimming Pool
Road, Hampton, was arrested Friday by CCSD Deputy Laverne
Julian following a traffic stop during which the officer found
a bag containing marijuana inside the vehicle. Brewster was
charged with possession of Schedule VI and driving on suspended
license.
* David Reed Markland, 51, 1126 Bluefield Ave.,
was arrested Saturday by CCSD Deputy Jeff Markland and charged
with assault under domestic violence.
Domestic violence
* Rickie Gene Berry, 250 Big Sandy Road, Elizabethton,
and son-in-law, David Markland, 1126 Bluefield Ave., Elizabethton,
were charged with domestic violence assault on Feb. 23 by
CCSD Deputy Jeff Markland.
* Robby Matheson, 1048 Dry Creek Road, Elizabethton,
was charged with domestic violence assault by CCSD Deputy
Jeff Markland on Feb. 23.
Fire
* Residents escaped a structure fire at the residence
of Helen Burrell, 169 Stone Mountain Road, Hampton, on Feb.
23. According to Sgt. G.S. Johnson of the Carter County Sheriff's
Department, Ms. Burrell and her children escaped the fire
after being awakened by Justin Guy, who was treated for smoke
inhalation. Most of the fire damage was confined to the kitchen.
Death
* On Feb. 22, the Sullivan County Sheriff's Department
responded to 440 White Hollow Road where a badly burned man
had been found. The victim, Nathan Howard Snapp, 488 Stoney
Hollow Road, Bluff City, was transported to Holston Valley
Medical Center where he later died.
