Arrests
* Eric Dale Smithy, 34, 144
Dolan Hollow Road, Roan Mountain, was arrested Friday by Carter
County Sheriff's Department Deputy Brad Johnson on violation
of an order of protection, theft over $500, and criminal trespassing.
* Michael Ray Vance, 31, 1156 Huffine Road, was
arrested Thursday by CCSD Deputy Chad Grindstaff and charged
with violation of an order of protection.
* Ralph Wayne Whitehead, 27, 401 Rittertown Road,
Hampton, was arrested Thursday by Elizabethton Police Department
Ptl. Jason McCall after the officer responded to Sycamore
Shoals Hospital to a possibly intoxicated subject.
According to the officer's report, Whitehead
was found seated in a vehicle and with a pack of rolling papers
in his lap. When the officer asked for identification, Whitehead
dropped somthing from his right hand into the floorboard.
He was asked to step from the vehicle. Capt. Clyde Croy found
a green leafy substance, believed to be marijuana, in the
floorboard. Whitehead was charged with possession of Schedule
VI and possession of drug paraphernalia.
* Anthony D. Tipton, 23, Chuckey, was arrested
Friday by officers of Johnson City Police Department and charged
with felony reckless endangerment.
* Jonathan Eugene Scalf, 19, 1607 E. Watauga
Ave., Johnson City, was arrested Friday by officers of Johnson
City Police Department and charged with two counts of contributing
to the delinquency of a minor and two counts of indecent exposure.
The arrest stems from investigation into improper sexual activity
between Scalf and two male juveniles on Feb. 1-2.
* Todd Darrell Briggs, 18, 1109 Johnson Ave.,
Johnson City, was arrested Thursday by officers of Johnson
City Police Department and charged with burglary, theft under
$500, and two counts of forgery. The arrest stems from entry
into a North Johnson City business Feb. 2 and theft of a purse
from the business.
* Charles Nathan Waddle, 29, 1866 Hwy. 81-S,
Jonesborough, and John Anthony Lamar Grudger, 41, 125 Earl
Street, Greeneville, were arrested Thursday by Washington
County Sheriff's Department deputies and Jonesborough Police.
According to Sheriff Fred Phillips, the two men
were arrested and charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated
assault, fleeing to avoid apprehension and evading arrest.
The two men forced entry into the home of Robert and Phyllis
Reed, 127 Parson's Circle, Jonesborough, around 4:20 p.m.
According to the police report, one suspect entered
the home and went upstairs where he assaulted a 19-year-old
resident. The second suspect entered the basement area where
he struck the female resident in the face, forced her to the
floor and attempted to tie her up, while demanding money.
Her husband returned home during the burglary and was assaulted
while attempting to help his wife. Both suspects fled the
scene, one by car and the other by foot, but were apprehended
after a brief chase.
Fraud
* Deborah Wagner, 43, 107
Old Stoney Loop, reported Thursday to CCSD Sgt. Penny Cornett
that she was contacted by representatives from American Express
and Chase Bank who informed her that someone in New York was
attempting to obtain a credit card in her name and was using
her Social Security number.
Theft
* Kimberly Annette Whitehead,
32, 646 Old Railroad Grade Road, Roan Mountain, reported Thursday
to CCSD Reserve Deputy Al Meehan that she returned from work
and found the front door ajar. Missing were a 9mm Beretta
with magazine, a Sprint cellular phne, a GE telephone, and
a box containing bills and check books from Carter County
Bank.
Clarification
* The father of Crystal Godsey,
142 Spears Ave., who was reported to have gone to her mother's
home uninvited and allegedly struck her 3-year-old son on
the legs with a switch, has not been charged in the incident.
