Arrests
* Rebecca Estep Sammons, 28, 111 Earl Ave., was
arrested Wednesday by Elizabethton Police Department Ptl.
Shannon Peters following a traffic stop. Sammons was charged
with driving on revoked license. Upon inventory of the vehicle,
the officer found 12 syringes. Sammons additionally was charged
with possession of drug paraphernalia.
* Jamey L. Walter, 28, 1184 Milligan Hwy. #24,
was arrested Wednesday by EPD Ptl. Mike McIntosh on a capias
out of Washington County charging him with failure to appear.
* Amber Layne Markland, 22, 20100 Moore Road,
Greeneville, was arrested Wednesday by Carter County Sheriff's
Department Lt. Forrest Sharpe and charged with violation of
probation and failure to appear to serve jail time.
Burglary
* Frances Greene Mitchell, 60, 209 Dollan Hollow
Road, Roan Mountain, reported Wednesday to CCSD Deputy Shannon
Deloach that friends called her in Charlotte and told her
they had stopped by to check on her house and found it had
been broken into. Deputy Deloach investigated and found the
front door of the house had been broken in, power to the house
had been turned off, and phone lines had been pulled from
the wall. Several items were taken from inside, including
a television, VCR, satellite receiver, videos, cassettes,
tools, telescope, microwave, silverware and coffee pot. A
utility room and side garage also were entered with a radio,
stapler, and air compressor removed.
* Sandra Scalf, 46, 140 Spring Drive, Johnson
City, reported Wednesday to CCSD Deputy Eric Buck that someone
had broken into her 1990 Honda Civic and had stolen two speakers
and an amplifier. The driver's side window had been broken
and the driver's side rear door had been pried. A Sony CD
player also was stolen from her 1997 Neon.
Vandalism
* Penny Sorrell, 104 Terrace St., reported Wednesday
to CCSD Deputy Janice Mitchell that sometime in the last three
days, someone had broken out the rear downstairs window to
the bathroom of her home. Glass from the window was located
outside the residence. It did not appear that entry had been
made.
Vehicle recovered
* Darrell Carpenter, 48, 200 Price Road, reported
Monday to CCSD Deputy Michael Carlock that a vehicle which
appeared to have been stolen and parts removed was observed
on Little Stoney Creek Road. Deputy Carlock found the vehicle
backed into a clearing and verified that the vehicle was reported
stolen from Johnson City. The 1986 black Chevrolet Blazer
was towed and held for Johnson City Police Department investigators.
Clarification
* Sheila Rochelle Greer, Highway 91, is not the
same Sheila Greer arrested Tuesday by Carter County Sheriff's
Department on charges of second-offense DUI, failure to provide
financial responsibility and violation of implied consent.
