Arrests
* Christopher W. Guy Jr.,
932 Rittertown Road, Hampton, was arrested Jan. 11 by Carter
County Sheriff's Deputy Penny Cornett on a probation violation.
* Wanda Pheba Jamison, 186 Roy Bowers Road, Elizabethton,
was charged with child endangerment and third offense of DUI
on Jan. 11 after the vehicle she was driving ran off the road
and into a ditch on Roy Bowers Road, according to CCSD Deputy
Penny Cornett, who investigated the accident.
* Jason P. Johnson, 1151 Clarence Potter Road,
Mountain City, was arrested Jan. 11 by CCSD Deputy Chad Grindstaff
on a warrant for forgery.
* Allison Jackson, 616 N. Roan St., Elizabethton,
was arrested Jan. 11 by CCSD Deputy Chad Grindstaff for violation
of probation.
* The Johnson City Police Department, on Jan.
12, arrested two juveniles, a male from Elizabethton and a
female from Johnson City, charged with burglary of a residence
at 2008 E. Watauga Ave., Johnson City. Both juveniles were
released to their adult relatives pending a court appearance
scheduled for Jan. 18.
* On Jan. 11, the Johnson City Police Department
arrested Oscar D. Oliver, 540 Spear Ave., Elizabethton, on
seven counts of aggravated assault, two counts of an assault
on an officer, driving under the influence, driving on a suspended
license, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest. According
to police reports, Oliver attempted to use his vehicle to
strike several people, including a Johnson City police officer,
standing in a parking lot at the Nashville Sound. A preliminary
hearing for Oliver was scheduled for Jan. 14. He was placed
in the Washington County Detention Center under an $84,700
appearance bond.
Citation
* Isidoro Buenfil Sanchez, 147 George Shoun Road,
Butler, was issued a citation Jan. 11 by CCSD Deputy Sarah
Ryan for violation of the child restraint law.
Thefts/vandalism
* Pam Shipley, an employee of Advance Electric
Contract, 2233 Miami Drive, Johnson City, reported Jan. 11
the theft of checks from the firm. CCSD Deputy Dean Jones
is investigating.
* CCSD Deputy Bradley Johnson is investigating
the theft of a 24-foot cattle/horse goose neck trailer, black
with VICA markings, from Cloudland High School on Jan. 11.
Deputy Johnson also investigated vandalism to a five-ton dump
truck at Cloudland High School. The side window was broken
out but nothing was reported to be missing.
* On Jan. 11, CCSD Deputy Shannon Deloach investigated
property damage to a gas pump at 5630 Highway 321, Butler.
Accidents
* CCSD Deputy Dean Jones issued
a citation for no insurance to Dorothy L. Collins, 2113 E.
Watauga Ave., Johnson City, following a two-vehicle accident
at the intersection of Highway 91 and Hughes Road on Jan.
11. The driver of the other vehicle was Shannon W. Sigman,
1424 Charity Hill Road, Elizabethton, according to Deputy
Jones.
* On Jan. 11, CCSD Deputy Dean Jones investigated
a single car accident on Powder Branch Road at Jim Elliott
Road. Jane A. Tingle, 1438 Power Branch Road, Johnson City,
said she ran off the road trying to avoid a small animal in
the roadway.
* CCSD Deputy Kenneth Cornett investigated a
hit-and-run accident on Sneed Hill Road on Jan. 11. Melanie
Brady Morris, 1142 Huffine Road, Apt. 36, Johnson City, reported
another vehicle sideswiped her vehicle and left the scene.
* On Jan. 11, CCSD Deputy Shannon Deloach investigated
a two-car vehicle accident at First Avenue and Crooke Street
involving drivers Myra T. Rodgers, 461 Wilbur Dam Road, Elizabethton,
and Amy R. Bowers, 332 Willow Springs Road, Elizabethton.
Armed robbery
* On Jan. 11, the Johnson
City Police Department investigated an armed robbery of the
Bays Mart, 3658 W. Market St., Johnson City. Upon arrival,
officers were advised that a white male had robbed the store
at gunpoint and had left the store on foot with an undetermined
amount of cash. The suspect is described as a white male,
five-foot-seven inches tall, medium build, wearing a green
full-faced toboggan, dark colored sweat shirt, and light tan
khaki pants. Anyone having information concerning the robbery
