Arrests
* Ronald W. Hendrix Jr., 22, 211 Little Germany
Road, Erwin, was arrested Sunday by Elizabethton Police Department
Ptl. Jennifer Mayberry following a traffic stop. According
to the report, Hendrix had attempted to go uphill on West
C Street and the vehicle had then rolled back into another
vehicle. Hendrix told officers he could not get the 1994 Chevrolet
S-10 to go anymore. The right front tire was flat and the
right rear tire missing. It appeared the vehicle had been
driven on the rim for an extended period of time. Hendrix
refused to attempt a series of field sobriety tasks, saying
he could not do them because he was drunk. He was taken into
custody and charged with DUI and violation of the financial
responsibility law. When advised at Carter County Jail of
the implied consent law Hendrix told Ptl. Mayberry and Sgt.
Roger Crowe, "I will tell you, and you, that I am drunk and
don't need to take the test." When asked to sign the implied
consent form, he told officers, "I am too drunk to sign it
now; I will sign it when I get sober." He additionally was
charged with violation of implied consent and was served a
capias for failure to pay fines and costs.
* Ronnie Jay King, 42, 1294 Bluefield Ave., Apt.
B120, was arrested Friday by EPD Sgt. Roger Crowe following
a traffic stop. According to the report, Sgt. Crowe observed
a white Hyundai on Hillside Drive with a headlight out. The
vehicle turned onto Cody Street, taking the curve too wide
and crossing over into the officer's lane of travel, forcing
him to the side of the road to avoid a collision. King was
charged with second-offense DUI, no driver's license and violation
of the financial responsibility law.
* Donald Allen Douglass, 18, 124 Trenton Lane,
Johnson City, was arrested Saturday by EPD Ptl. Jennifer Mayberry
following a traffic stop. According to the report, the vehicle
was traveling 87 mph in a 55 mph zone and traveling in the
emergency lane. Douglass was charged with DUI and speeding.
* Christopher J. Milhorn, 18, 721 Liberty Church
Road, Gray, was issued a summons Tuesday by EPD Ptl. Jennifer
Mayberry after the officer observed the vehicle traveling
67 mph in a 40 mph zone. Milhorn was issued a citation for
speeding and a summons for violation of the financial responsibility
law.
* Derek T. Adams, 34, 3706 Timberlake Road, Johnson
City, was issued a citation Monday by EPD Ptl. Jennifer Mayberry
after the officer observed the vehicle traveling 66 mph in
a 40 mph zone. Adams was issued a citation for speeding and
a summons for violation of the financial responsibility law.
* Elliott David Welch, 23, 105 John Crow Road,
was issued a citation/summons Saturday by EPD Ptl. Jennifer
Mayberry following a traffic stop. Welch was charged with
reckless driving, violation of registration and violation
of the financial responsibility law.
* Jason Andrew Jackson, 18, 107 Blevins Lane,
Johnson City, was issued a summons Friday by EPD Capt. Clyde
Croy following a traffic stop. Jackson was issued a citation
for running a red light and a summons for driving on suspended
license.
* Ainsley Karzell, 22, of Atlanta, Ga., was arrested
Sunday by officers of Johnson City Police Department following
a traffic stop. Karzell, a passenger in a vehicle, was wanted
on an outstanding warrant from Clayton County, Ga., and was
charged with being a fugitive from justice. He was being held
in Washington County Detention Center without bond pending
extradition.
* Davy Garland, 32, 2105 Greenwood Drive, Apt.
86, Johnson City, was arrested Saturday by officers of Johnson
City Police Bureau following investigation into an armed assault
in the area of University Apartments. Officers observed a
subject matching the description of the armed assailant run
across the parking lot. He was ordered to stop, however, he
continued to run and was located inside Apt. 86. After five
to six minutes, officers said he opened the door and surrendered.
A loaded firearm was found inside the residence. Garland was
charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and possession
of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.
* Lonnie Gene Greer, 24, 941 Ford Creek Road,
Gray, was arrested Tuesday by officers of Johnson City Police
Bureau in cooperation with Washington County Sheriff's Department
following investigation into the Jan. 1 burglary and assault
of three individuals at #5 Regency Square, Johnson City. Greer
was charged with aggravated burglary and three counts of simple
assault.
* Joshua B. Reynolds, 18, of Johnson City, and
Jonathan D. Parlier, 20, of Elizabethton, were arrested Monday
by officers of Johnson City Police Bureau after officers responded
to Red Roof Inn regarding a report of an assault and an attempt
to break in to a coin vending machine. Both men were charged
with theft.
Escapee captured
* J.B. Cole, 37, an escapee from Tennessee Department
of Correction, was captured Saturday in Pawnee County, Okla.
Cole, a minimum security inmate, escaped June 4 from a Tennessee
Department of Transportation facility in Nashville while under
the supervision of TDOT personnel. Last week, Cole was charged
with first-degree murder in the death of 71-year-old Donald
Green Sr., whose body was found last Wednesday in a creek
near Fishtrap, Ky. Green had been missing since Christmas.
Cole was captured around 6 p.m. Saturday during a traffic
stop by a Pawnee County Sheriff's Department deputy and a
member of Oklahoma State Highway Patrol. He is being held
in Tulsa County Jail. At the time of his escape, Cole was
serving a six-year prison sentence for vandalism and theft
in Coffey County.
