Arrests
* Norbert G. Amero, 40, General Delivery, was
arrested Saturday by officers of Johnson City Police Department
and charged with theft over $1,000 and possession of marijuana.
The arrest stems from investigation into the victim allowing
Amero to use her vehicle for a short while and at a later
time, advised her he was not going to return it. At the time
of his arrest, marijuana was found on his person.
* Sullivan County Sheriff's Office deputies responded
Saturday to Bristol Medical Center regarding a gunshot wound.
According to Detective David Meade, deputies spoke with a
19-year-old white male who reported that he had been shot
while jogging on Bristol Caverns Highway. The victim said
that as he was jogging north, an oncoming vehicle traveling
south passed by him and someone inside the vehicle fired a
shot, striking him in the left leg. He was treated and released
from the hospital. The investigation is continuing.
* Diana L. Fagans, 40, 1105 Johnson Ave., Johnson
City, was arrested Friday by officers of Johnson City Police
Department after she was observed fleeing the scene of a burglary
at Tri-State Air Cooled Engines, 263 W. Main St. Further investigation
revealed that Fagans was involved in auto burglaries on Dec.
30 at Wal-Mart, 2010 Browns Mill Road, and on Dec. 26 at #1
Unaka Court. Fagans also was found to have been involved in
the Dec. 30 theft of a vending machine from Discount Tobacco,
1910 Knob Creed Road. Fagans was charged with three counts
of burglary, one count of theft over $500 and second-offense
driving on revoked license.
* James Ayers, 31, 2807 S. Roan St., Lot 14,
was arrested Friday by officers of Johnson City Police Bureau
and charged with theft over $10,000. The arrest stems from
an investigation into the recovery of a 2000 Dodge Ram truck
and other stolen property from Ayers' residence which had
been reported stolen from Mitchell County, N.C.
* Steven Odell Bennett, 20, 551 Berry Ridge Road,
Jonesborough, was arrested Friday by officers of Johnson City
Police Bureau following a traffic stop. Bennett was charged
with auto theft and two counts of theft over $1,000.
Theft
* Rusty Ruble, 448 Minton Hollow Road, reported
Jan. 1 to Carter County Sheriff's Department Deputy Laverne
Julian that his 1983 Chrysler ski & fish boat and trailer
were missing. The boat is described as a 16-foot creme color
with orange stripes and a 70 hp Chrysler outboard motor. A
JVC-750 AM/FM CD player also was missing along with a stand-up
Craftsman tool chest. A 1985 Gold Wing motorcycle owned by
Ruble was found turned over in the yard.
* Gerald Harrell, 652 Laurels Road, reported
Dec. 29 to CCSD Lt. Bobby Huffman that he was on his property
cutting wood when his chainsaw was stolen. Harrell said that
on his way to the house he dropped the saw off his truck and
into a field. Before he could get back, he saw a subject get
out of a green-over-green Dodge truck, cross the fence and
get the saw. Harrell said there were two subjects in the truck.
The one that got out reportedly wore an orange vest or jacket
as though he had been deer hunting.
Burglary
* Robert Grindstaff, 313 Merry Drive, reported
Jan. 1 to CCSD Deputy Brad Hamm that someone attempted to
break in to his camper at 127 Mountain Ridge Lane, and had
broken into an outbuilding near the camper. A blue wheelbarrow,
collection of Budweiser glasses, and a 14-inch yellow McCullough
chainsaw were missing.
