Arrests
* William R. Dougherty, 21, 124 Mary Lincoln
Place, was arrested around 11:30 p.m. Sunday by Elizabethton
Police Department Ptl. Brooke Mullins after officers were
dispatched to Watauga Point Baptist Church on Gap Creek Road
regarding an unresponsive male. Officers observed Dougherty
asleep in the driver's seat of a green Toyota truck. After
awakening Dougherty, he was administered several field sobriety
tasks, which he performed poorly, and was charged with DUI.
Upon inventory of his vehicle, a Colt .45 and a .45 automatic
handgun were found, along with numerous Xanax in individual
plastic baggies, .6 grams of cocaine, a pipe, glass tube,
and $106 in cash. Dougherty additionally was charged with
violation of implied consent, possession of Schedule II and
Schedule IV for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia,
two counts unlawful possession of a handgun, and possession
of a handgun while under the influence.
* Pamela Andes Johnson, 33, 507 E. Cottage Ave.,
and Melena McKeehan, 29, 603 Maple St., each were charged
with theft under $500 Friday by EPD Ptl. Brooke Mullins following
a shoplifting incident at Wal-Mart.
* Benjamin West, 28, 603 Watauga Ave., was arrested
Dec. 24 by EPD Ptl. Jennifer Mayberry following a traffic
stop. West was charged with driving on revoked license.
* Amy Renee Barnette, 25, 2103 Ski View Drive,
Gatlinburg, was arrested Saturday by EPD Ptl. Brooke Mullins
after officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision
on Highway 91. Daniel Garland, 21, 130 Lick Branch Road, told
officers he and a passenger, Jason Barnette, 25, 2103 Ski
View Drive, Gatlinburg, were traveling north on Highway 91
when Barnette's wife, who was traveling north behind them,
rammed his car twice in the rear, causing him to lose control
of the vehicle, which ran off the road into the BP parking
lot, jumped the curb, hit a telephone guy wire and spun to
a stop in the middle of a turn-off road next to the station.
Amy Barnette told officers she had been following the two
because she wanted to know where they were going and said
she hit Garland's vehicle on purpose. She was charged with
aggravated assault under domestic violence and reckless endangerment.
* Lesa Ann Lancaster, 38, 611 Parkway Blvd.,
was arrested Tuesday by EPD Ptl. Jack Ramsey after the officer
was dispatched to 203 Williams Ave., regarding a complaint
of a female on the porch of the residence armed with a handgun.
When officers arrived, Capt. Art Smithdeal observed Lancaster
holding a chrome-color revolver. Occupants of the house advised
officers that Lancaster was in the process of divorcing her
husband and was not supposed to be on the property. Officers
called several times for Lancaster to come out of the house
but she refused. They then made entry and saw Lancaster exit
a bedroom and enter the kitchen, where she was confronted
and taken into custody. After a brief search incident to arrest,
Capt. Smithdeal found a nickel-plated Smith & Wesson .38-caliber
revolver, fully loaded, under the bed. Lancaster was charged
with aggravated assault and possession of a handgun while
intoxicated.
* James Aguilar, 37, 104 Nave St., Hampton, was
arrested Tuesday by EPD Ptl. Brooke Mullins following a traffic
stop. Aguilar was charged with DUI and violation of implied
consent.
* Thomas Walter Everett, 31, 119 Creola Lane,
was arrested Dec. 21 by CCSD Deputy Fred Sluder on a warrant
out of Criminal Court charging him with violation of probation.
* Jerry Blevins, 38, 703 Blevins Ave., was arrested
Sunday by Carter County Sheriff's Department Deputy Todd Hamm
on a warrant charging him with three counts of child neglect.
The warrant was taken out by EPD Ptl. Jason McCall following
a call to Blevins' residence Dec. 21.
* Jose Chavez, 110 Dove Lane, was arrested Sunday
by CCSD Sgt. Patrick Johnson following investigation of a
domestic dispute. Chavez was charged with assault under domestic
violence.
* Billy E. Cunningham, 32, 119 Quincy Parlier
Road, was arrested Tuesday by CCSD Lt. Bobby Huffman and charged
with assault under domestic violence.
* Marinda Kay Pilk, 23, 201 Laurel Road, Johnson
City, was arrested Monday by CCSD Deputy Sarah Ryan on warrants
charging her with resisting arrest and public intoxication.
* Richard Chavis, 215 Clarktown Road, was arrested
Tuesday by CCSD Deputy Bradley Johnson on warrants charging
him with aggravated assault and violation of an order of protection.
* Christie Lee Vaughn, 31, 454 McQueen St., Butler,
was arrested Tuesday by CCSD Deputy Al Meehan on a warrant
charging her with violation of probation.
* Danny Lane Pritchard, 48, 929 Elk River Road,
Elk Park, N.C., was arrested Tuesday by CCSD Sgt. Patrick
Johnson and charged with public intoxication.
