Burglary/vandalism
* The Carter County Sheriff's
Department is investigating a burglary and vandalism of property
at American Limestone, 350 W. Fourth Ave., Watauga, on Dec.
22.
The entrance gate to the rock quarry and garage
door were torn down. The ignition switch on a 1993 Ford F-10
truck was broken and a CB radio was torn off the dash.
Two Mack Trucks were also entered, along with
a dresser hauling truck and Caterpillar front-end loader.
The snack building was broken into and the snack machine window
was broken out.
A white Ford truck, stolen from the lot, was
found abandoned on Smalling Road near Maple Tree Lane in Johnson
City. The driver of the truck, apparently, had damaged a fence,
owned by James Smalling, 740 Smalling Road. The truck also
damaged the yard at the residence of Dan Birkner, 241 Smalling
Road. Deputy Eric Buck is investigating.
Vandalism
* Carter County Sheriff's
Department Deputy Kenneth Cornett is investigating vandalism
at Happy Valley Church of Jesus Christ, 2733 Elizabethton
Hwy., Johnson City, on Dec. 22. A shotgun was used to shoot
out windows and damage the front door of the church, according
to Deputy Cornett.
Burglary/theft
* On Dec. 22, Eddie Mobley,
127 Lewis Blevins Road, reported to the Carter County Sheriff's
Department that someone broke into his mobile home, opened
all the family's Christmas presents, and stole a video game
valued at $300. Deputy Chris Pierce is investigating.
* The Carter County Sheriff's Department is investigating
a burglary and theft at the Hampton High School woodworking
building on Hwy. 321, Hampton, on Dec. 21. A Dell computer
brain, keyboard and speakers were reported stolen. CCSD Deputy
Brad Hamm is investigating.
Car theft
* On Dec. 21, Sherri Mayse, 2420 Lacy Springs
Road, Broadway, Va., reported a 1990 Honda Accord, dark blue
with spoiler, was stolen from 511 Dogwood Lane. The vehicle
contained a pocketbook, which was later found, Cannon camera,
car seat, tool bag, and checkbook. Carter County Sheriff's
Department Deputy Sgt. Tim Lowe is investigating.
Stolen check
* On Dec. 21, Leanna White,
2927 Hwy. 91, Elizabethton, reported to the Carter County
Sheriff's Department that a check had been stolen and forged.
Deputy Jeffrey Markland is investigating.
