Arrests


   * Samuel T. Hamrick, 187 S. Allison Road, Piney Flats, was arrested Tuesday by Carter County Sheriff's Department Deputy Gregg Nave following a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 19E after he struck a utility pole on First Street in Hampton. Hamrick was charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, violation of implied consent and no driver's license.
   * Michael Lynn Metcalf, 21, 103 E. Jarrett Buck Road, Johnson City, was arrested Saturday by CCSD Lt. Mike Fraley following a traffic stop. He was charged with driving on revoked license.
   * Keith Lynn Rutter, 36, 122 Big Sandy Road, was arrested Sunday by CCSD Deputy Albert Nave following a traffic stop on an attachment for contempt.
   * Earnest Brewer, 21, 318 Dennis Cove Road, Hampton, was arrested Tuesday by CCSD Sgt. Keith Range after the officer responded to a fight call. Brewer was charged with public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia.
   * Michael James Brummitt, 21, 141 Brummitt Lane, was arrested Tuesday by CCSD Deputy Gregg Nave on a warrant from General Sessions Court charging him with violation of probation.
   * Harrison Edward Bowlin, 40, 1304 Spruce Lane, was arrested Monday by Elizabethton Police Department Ptl. Jason McCall after the officer responded to a call regarding a male subject stumbling through the complainant's back yard. Bowlin was located and charged with public intoxication.

Fire

   * CCSD Deputy Jeffrey Markland responded Tuesday to a structure fire at the home of Tim Baumgardner, 27, 479 Bishop Hollow Road. Stoney Creek Volunteer Fire Department was on the scene and the house was almost fully engulfed in flames when the officer arrived, according to the report. Baumgardner told the officer that he and his wife had just left the residence a short time ago. The fire appeared to have started in the rear of the residence where, Baumgardner said, a stack heater was located. Cause of the fire was undetermined at the time of the report.
   * Cecil Peeks, Muddy Branch Road, reported Tuesday to CCSD Lt. Robert Hooks that while he was burning leaves, he set his outbuilding on fire, burning it to the ground. A neighbor retrieved Peeks' car from the outbuilding before it was damaged. Stoney Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded and extinguished the blaze.
  
Theft

   * Ed Ward of Ward's Auto Sales, Highway 400, Watauga, reported Monday to CCSD Lt. Bob Hooks that someone broke the windshield and right door glass out of a vehicle parked on the lot and removed a Pioneer AM/FM cassette.
   * Belinda Ray, 836 Hwy. 91, Apt. A-5, reported Monday to CCSD Lt. Bob Hooks that someone entered her apartment and removed $200 from her purse along with a pack of cigarettes.
   * Andrew Foister, 109 Joy Drive, Johnson City, reported Tuesday to CCSD Sgt. Tim Lowe that someone broke out the right rear glass of his 1994 Ford Probe and took a Sony AM/FM compact disc player.
   * Ted Garland, 180 Woodland Drive, Apt. 2, Johnson City, reported Tuesday to CCSD Sgt. Tim Lowe that someone entered his 1990 Chevrolet Z24 while it was parked at the Coastal Mart on Milligan Highway and took a Pioneer stereo.
   * Charles DiCampli, 1099 Hwy. 91, reported Tuesday to CCSD Lt. Bob Hooks that someone has been taking gasoline from vehicles parked in his yard. DiCampli said approximately 36 gallons had been removed in the last three months.
  
Vandalism

   * Jeremy Grindstaff, 836 Hwy. 91, Apt. A-6, reported Monday to CCSD Lt. Bob Hooks that someone had keyed the trunk of his 2001 vehicle.
   * Geraldine Brown, 59, 1947 Roaring Creek Road, Roan Mountain, reported Saturday to CCSD Deputy Jeffrey Markland that someone vandalized her mailbox for the second time in the last week.
