Arrests

   * Mary Patterson, 25, 11358 Hen Smith Road, Vance, Ala., was arrested Wednesday by Carter County Sheriff's Department Deputy Matthew Lunceford at the Tuscaloosa County Jail in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on a warrant out of Carter County Criminal Court charging her with violation of probation. She is to be held without bond until her court date of Dec. 7.
   * Matthew Glen Shell, 25, 449 Bear Branch Road, Roan Mountain, was arrested Tuesday at the sheriff's department by CCSD Deputy Kenneth Cornett on a warrant charging him with violation of probation.
   * Jose Luis Valdez, 28, 2105 Greenwood Drive Apt. 65, Johnson City, was arrested Tuesday by Constable Bobby Canter and charged with aggravated burglary and theft over $500.
   * April Carol Shoun, 30, 10410 Greggs Branch, Butler, was arrested Tuesday by Constable Bobby Canter on a warrant charging her with violation of probation.
   * Kevin L. Tinn, 19, 624 E. Pine St., was arrested Tuesday at his residence by officers of Johnson City Police Bureau and charged with manufacturing marijuana and domestic assault after Tinn allegedly assaulted his former roommate. While Tinn was being taken into custody, four marijuana plants were observed growing under a sun lamp in the front room of his house.

Shooting

   * Randy Alan Loyd, 44, 307 Culver Road, Limestone, was arrested around 3 p.m. Tuesday at his home by officers of Washington County Sheriff's Department in connection with a shooting incident in Limestone. Loyd was charged with aggravated assault and felony reckless endangerment after he fired a .12 gauge shotgun into a vehicle occupied by two adults and a 14-month-old child. The vehicle was parked in front of his home. The driver, Travis Spears, 19, 106 Strolling Road, Telford, was struck in the head and shoulder area by the blast and was treated at Johnson City Medical Center then released. The child also was examined as a precautionary measure. Amy Roberts, 19, 3060 Sandbar Road, Chucky, also was in the vehicle at the time of the incident but was not injured. A motive for the shooting has not been determined. The investigation is continuing.

Vandalism

   * Bradley E. Barrick, 27, 25 Campbell Rash Road, reported Tuesday to Elizabethton Police Department Ptl. Shannon Peters that someone had taken a key and scratched the side of his 1990 Silverado pickup from the front fender to the rear.

Burglary

   * CCSD Lt. Rocky Croy responded Tuesday to 201 Hopson Road, Johnson City, after receiving a report of two white males around the residence. Ed Whitehead, 206 Hopson Road, told the officer that he went to the fire department to get help and upon his return, found the side door ajar about 3 inches. Lt. Croy searched the residence but found no one. The owner could not be reached. Around 3:57 p.m., Sgt. Penny Cornett responded to 201 Hopson Road and spoke with Phyllis Simerly, who reported several items missing, including $800 in silver dollars, about $350 in state quarters, a caller ID box, and three antique wrist watches. The basement door also was damaged, apparently by the intruders.

Clarification

   * Dayton Edward Grant, 21, an inmate at Carter County Jail, was served a capias at the jail Monday charging him with failure to appear. The capias was not served at his mother's residence at 316 West St., Roan Mountain.
