Vandalism

   * Carter County Sheriff's Department deputies were called to the residence of Paul Pierce on Monday. Pierce stated that persons unknown to him had thrown a pumpkin at two mailboxes on his property.
   * EPD officers reported that a van parked at 318 Cottage Avenue was vandalized Monday. According to the report, the back window of the van had been shattered.

Burglaries

   * CCSD Deputy Bob Hooke responded to a call at 220 Sunrise Drive on Monday. According to Hooke's report, La Donnia Proffit reported that a 9mm handgun had been stolen from her home.
   * EPD Officer Charles Moreland was dispatched to Winn-Dixie on Monday. Winn-Dixie employee Jonathan Dunlop reported to Moreland that his bicycle had been stolen while he was at work.
   * EPD Captain Rusty Verran was called to 916 Pine Ridge Circle on Monday. Erlene Fender reported to Verran that her car, a 1987 Buick Regal, had been stolen from the parking lot of her apartment.
  
Arrests

   * Anthony L. Grindstaff, 21, Lynn Ridge Apartments CD120, was arrested early Tuesday morning by EPD Captain Rusty Verran on a charge of criminal impersonation. According to the police report, Grindstaff is accused of passing checks stolen from a resident of Ivy Hall Nursing Home.
  
Death


   * Defradrus Hale Jr., 22, 406 Lee St., #4, Johnson City, died Oct. 22 from gunshot wounds sustained in an altercation in the Cherry Street parking lot on Oct. 21, according to the Johnson City Police Department. An autopsy has been ordered and the investigation into the shooting is continuing. Anyone witnessing the incident or having information concerning the shooting is urged to contact the Criminal Investigation Division 423/434-6166 or Crimestoppers at 423/434-6158.
