Arrests

   * Douglas Lee Nave, 51, Street's Trailer Park, Hampton, was arrested Sunday by Carter County Sheriff's Department Deputy Laverne Julian after the officer observed the vehicle he was driving make a wide turn onto Gap Creek Road from U.S. Highway 19E. The officer got behind the vehicle and displayed emergency equipment. The car accelerated and attempted to flee, then made a hard right turn into the parking lot of Harmony Baptist Church at a high rate of speed. The parking lot was full of cars. The car came out the other side of the lot and turned onto Rittertown Road. The driver then turned right onto Tilson Avenue and came to a stop at which time the driver immediately opened the driver's door and started to exit the vehicle. He was told to get back into the vehicle. The driver, identified as Nave, was asked why he tried to run. He replied, "I thought you were going to write me a ticket for my busted windshield," according to the report. A warrant check showed Nave was wanted on a warrant out of Criminal Court charging him with violation of probation for failure to complete a two-year probation and failure to report for jail time. Nave was charged with fleeing to avoid apprehension, reckless endangerment and violation of probation.
   * Betsy O. Stein, 44, 238 Piercetown Road, Butler, was arrested Friday by CCSD Deputy Terry Blevins on a warrant charging her with violation of probation.
   * Timothy Lee Blackwell, 31, P.O. Box 9, Roan Mountain, was arrested Friday by CCSD Deputy Terry Blevins on a warrant charging him with violation of probation.
   * Jeffery Dale Caudill, 32, 4164 W. F St., was arrested Saturday by CCSD Sgt. Keith Range following a traffic stop. He was charged with DUI, driving on revoked license, stop sign violation, and violation of implied consent. He also was served a capias from General Sessions Court charging him with failure to appear with fines and costs on third-offense DUI, and a capias from Washington County charging him with failure to appear.
   * Billy Dean Bailey, 41, 163 Maple Tree Lane, was arrested Saturday by CCSD Deputy Rick Taylor after the officer was dispatched to the residence regarding a stolen vehicle. Mrs. Bailey told the officer that her husband had taken her son's car without permission. The vehicle was observed on Smalling Road, swerving from side to side. The driver, identified as Bailey, was stopped at Highway 400. Bailey was arrested on a warrant charging him with violation of probation, fourth-offense DUI, third-offense driving on revoked license, violation of habitual motor offender, and violation of implied consent.
   * Philip K. Sinclair, 63, 69 Dogwood Ave., Mountain Home, was arrested Saturday by officers of Johnson City Police Bureau after it was found he was wanted out of Springfield, Ill., for violation of parole. Sinclair was charged with being a fugitive from justice and was being held without bond.
  
Fire

   * CCSD Deputy Gregg Nave was dispatched Saturday to Dry Branch Road on Highway 91 regarding a trailer fire. According to the report, Tracy Pritchard and her children had left the residence about 15-20 minutes prior. The fire was believed to have started in the kitchen area. The mobile home was a total loss.
