Arrests

  * Benjamin Eddie Murphy, 44, Fitzsimmons Hill Road, was arrested Saturday by Carter County Sheriff's Department Lt. Mike Fraley after the officer responded to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival the officer observed Debbie Duke standing in the front yard. As the officer approached, Duke told him that her live-in boyfriend, Murphy, punched her in the face and began tearing their trailer apart. The officer observed that Duke had a bloody nose. While talking to her, Murphy came outside, saying, "Debbie, you better tell them I didn't hit you." The officer separated the two and tried to determine what took place. A witness told the officer that she saw Murphy strike Duke. The officer then had Duke show him the trailer, where he observed an air conditioner in the floor, and food and kitchen utensils thrown all over the living room. Murphy was charged with assault under domestic violence.
  * Duane Robert Yeager, 34, 936 Simerly Creek Road, Hampton, was arrested at Crossroads, East Elk Avenue, by Elizabethton Police Department Ptl. Tonya Scott on a warrant charging him with violation of probation.
  * Donnie James Blevins, 22, 1229 Broad St., was arrested Sunday by CCSD Lt. Mike Fraley following a traffic stop and was charged with driving on suspended license and violation of registration.
  * Lonnie R. Pierce, 27, 135 Race St., was arrested Friday by EPD Ptl. Jack Ramsey and charged with public intoxication.
  * Clarence R. Bateman, 58, 104 Treadway St., was arrested Saturday by EPD Ptl. Mike Sproviero after the officer was dispatched to 822 Walnut St., regarding an intoxicated subject causing a disturbance. Family members advised Bateman was causing a disturbance at their mother's funeral by cursing them as they were coming into the house. Bateman was charged with public intoxication.
  * Steven Paul Woerner, 23, 2976 Mulatto Mountain Road, Fleetwood, N.C., was arrested Saturday by EPD Ptl. Brooke Mullins after officers were dispatched to Pal's Restaurant, 413 W. Elk Ave., regarding several subjects in the parking lot with open beer bottles. When the officer arrived she observed nine subjects congregating around two vehicles. Woerner was observed to be unsteady on his feet and had extremely slurred speech, according to the report. He was arrested and charged with public intoxication.
  * Crystal Chambers, 30, 113 Landfill Road, was arrested Saturday by EPD Ptl. Brook Mullins after the officer responded to a call regarding an unwanted guest in the apartment. Chambers, who was wanted on criminal trespassing charges and violation of an order of protection, was arrested and transported to Carter County Jail.
  * Richard Grant Colvard, 19, 231 Clawson Hollow Road, Roan Mountain, was issued a summons Saturday by EPD Ptl. Jesus Pena after the officer observed a blue Chevrolet Camaro turn into the lower entrance to Pine Ridge Circle with the stereo turned up loudly. A few minutes later, the vehicle was observed coming down the upper entrance, again with the stereo turned up. The officer stopped the vehicle and gave a verbal warning on the noise ordinance violation and issued a summons charging him with driving on suspended license. The vehicle was towed.
  * Kyman Grindstaff, 43, 111 Bishop Hollow, was arrested Friday by EPD Ptl. Charles Moreland after the officer observed a blue Ford exit the ramp on U.S. Highway 19E, run a stop sign at the intersection of 19E and state highway 91, and enter the oncoming lane of traffic, causing another vehicle to run off the roadway. Grindstaff was charged with DUI and driving on revoked license. Upon inventory of the vehicle, an open container of alcoholic beverage was found and Grindstaff was charged under the open container law. He refused to submit to an Intoximeter test and additionally was charged with violation of implied consent.
  * Jerry R. Oaks, 19, 920 S. Second St., was arrested Saturday by EPD Sgt. Matt Bailey after the officer was dispatched to the Covered Bridge area regarding a subject stumbling near the roadway. Oaks appeared to be intoxicated and advised the officer that he had taken Soma earlier in the day and had been sleeping in the park. He was charged with public intoxication.
  * April D. Ashley, 22, 917 Pine Ridge Circle was arrested Friday by EPD Capt. Bill Fraley on warrants charging her with following too close with contact, violation of registration, filing a false report, criminal impersonation and driving on revoked license.
  * Shawn M. Hodge, 30, 2773 Bob Little Road, was arrested Saturday by CCSD Deputy Wayne Pritchard on a warrant from Criminal Court charging him with violation of probation.

Accident

  * Loran Pierce, no age or address listed, was transported by Wings Air Rescue to Johnson City Medical Center following an automobile accident at 9:02 p.m. Monday on Hwy. 321 near Lakeshore Marina. Further details were unavailable. Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Mark Musick is investigating.
