Shooting


   * Officers of Johnson City Police Bureau responded Sunday to Johnson City Medical Center to investigate a gunshot wound. The victim, Lara Jahaira, 22, 103 S. Beech St. #2, Johnson City, drove herself to the Medical Center after suffering a superficial gunshot wound to the left leg after an altercation with an unknown female. The incident occurred somewhere in the Lakeview area of Johnson City. Further details were unknown at the time of the report. Armed robbery

   * Officers of Johnson City Police Bureau responded to the report of an armed robbery that occurred at the Job Street parking lot. The victim, James Michael Guinn, 19, 4216 Hwy. 23, Flag Pond, stated that he was robbed by three males after listening to a band that was playing in the area. He described the assailants as follows: The first was a white male, 30-40 years old, about 6 feet tall, with a long goatee-type beard, brown hair and eyes, and a cast and sling on his right arm. The second was a white male, 40-50 years old, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, brown hair and eyes, salt-and-pepper-colored hair worn in a pony tail with a bandana. The third was a white male, 30-40 years old, about 6 feet, 2 inches tall, brown hair and eyes. Guinn told officers that one of the men was wielding a pipe as a weapon and took a wallet and backpack in the robbery. Anyone with information concerning the incident is urged to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 434-6166 or Crimestoppers at 434-6158 to remain anonymous. The investigation is continuing.
  
Arrests

   * George McQueen, 51, 301 Cobbs Creek Road, was arrested Saturday by CCSD Lt. Mike Fraley on charges of aggravated assault, possession of an unlawful weapon and public intoxication.
   * Richard Allen Shell, 50, 809 Folsom St., was arrested Saturday by CCSD Deputy Wayne Pritchard and charged with possession of Schedule I.
   * Larry S. Peters, 32, 510 Allen Ave., was issued a criminal summons Thursday by Elizabethton Police Department Ptl. Greg Workman for third-offense driving on revoked license following a traffic stop.
   * Jonathan J. Gwin, 24, Swimming Pool Road, Hampton, was issued a summons Thursday by EPD Ptl. Kevin Cable charging him with theft under $500 after the officer was called to Wal-Mart regarding a shoplifter. Guinn was observed allegedly taking four packs of Splitfire spark plugs, valued at $29.88.
  
Vandalism

   * Lisa Dugger, 122 Little Ave., reported Thursday to Carter County Sheriff's Department Deputy Janice Mitchell that sometime Wednesday night, someone entered her back yard and used a sharp object to stab the side of her above-ground pool. The pool had a cut approximately 3 inches long through the exterior and lining about halfway down the side.
  
Fire

   * Justin Westicott, 329 Summerfield Drive, Piney Flats, reported Thursday to CCSD Lt. Rocky Croy that he was traveling south on U.S. Highway 19E when he noticed the front of his 1989 Nissan Sentry smoking, pulled over, and found that the front end of the vehicle was on fire. Watauga Fire Department responded and extinguished the blaze. The vehicle sustained heavy damage.
  
Theft

   * Harley Campbell, 711 Beech St., reported Wednesday to CCSD Deputy Loretta Cloyd that someone had taken several items from his lake house located at 558 Cove Ridge Circle, Butler. Missing were a 1995 Polaris 4-wheeler, a 1987 red Honda 4-wheeler and a 1987 Honda 3-wheeler. The items were taken from under a shed behind the house and valued at approximately $15,000. A large propane tank was removed from the back of the house and placed at the side as though someone was going to come back and get it, according to the report.
   * Judy Grindstaff, 135 Grindstaff Hollow Road, reported Wednesday to CCSD Deputy Janice Mitchell that a child support check had been removed from her mailbox and cashed. Also, on April 27, a federal income tax check was mailed to the same address but not received.
   * James W. Davey, 51, 1266 Bluefield Ave., reported Wednesday to EPD Ptl. Shannon Peters that someone took a Pioneer stereo, two speakers and a knife from his vehicle.
   * Dale Wayne Wilder, 31, 131 Sara Anna Drive, owner of Wilder Lawn Service, reported Thursday to CCSD Deputy Dean Jones that someone stole his riding mower from its trailer sometime the night before. The mower is described as a Silver Craftsman 14 hp with 42-inch cut.
