Mrs.
Barbara Ellon Coleman, 62, 621 Watauga Avenue, Elizabethton, died Wednesday,
January 26, 2000, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
Mrs.
Coleman was a native of Randolph County, Ind., and a daughter of the late Earnest
G. and Emiley Atkinson Hunt. She was also preceded in death by a brother.
Mrs.
Coleman moved to Elizabethton from Hammond, Ind., in 1991. She attended Prayer
Tabernacle. She was a musician and a lover of pets.
Survivors
include her husband, Moses Coleman; one aunt, Mary Korstange, Schoolcraft, Mich.;
several nieces, nephews and cousins; one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law,
Abel and Cleo Coleman, Elizabethton, Annabelle Zappone of Florida, Betty Hall
of Kentucky and Dora Guinn of Arkansas.

Mrs.
Ellen Campbell Vaughn, 710 East Second Street, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, January
25, 2000, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs.
Vaughn was a native of Boise, Idaho, and a daughter of the late James Samuel
and Lula M. Whitehead Campbell. She was also preceded in death by her husband,
Roger T. Vaughn Sr., in 1975, two sisters and one brother.
Survivors
include three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry E. and Marzeta Vaughn and Roger
T. "Tom" and Lynda Kay Vaughn, all of Elizabethton, and Richard M. "Mike" and
Bonnie K. Vaughn, Morristown; one sister, Mrs. Emma Lee Pruitt, Elizabethton;
one brother, Bobby Campbell, Vacaville, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Lisa
M. Vaughn, Larry Ed Vaughn, Jeffrey Michael Vaughn, Tommy Vaughn and Kevin Vaughn.

MIDLAND,
Ga. -- Graveside services with military honors for King Elliott, who died Monday,
December 27, 1999, were conducted at 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 30, in the
Main Post Cemetery at Ft. Benning, Ga.
Mr.
Elliott, 73, was a native of Elizabethton, Tenn. He was retired from the U.S.
Army and was a Veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans
and the American Legion.
Survivors
include his wife, Junko Elliott, Columbus, Ga.; two daughters, Dr. Linda R.
Elliott, San Antonio, Texas, and Mimi Fountain, Columbus Ga.; a sister, Thelma
Gentry, Starkville; and one grandson.
Paris
"Jake" Perkins, 82, Roan Highlands Nursing Home, formerly of Route 3, Roan Mountain,
died Tuesday, January 25, 2000, at Johnson City Medical Center following an
extended illness.
Mr.
Perkins was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Joseph and Dora
Richardson Perkins. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Shell
Perkins, December 19, 1999, two grandchildren, five brothers and four sisters.
Mr.
Perkins was a member and deacon of Morgan Branch Free Will Baptist Church and
a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. He was caretaker of
the Richardson Cemetery for 40 years.
Survivors
include four sons, Rev. Gary Perkins, Rodney Perkins and J.C. "Joe" Perkins,
all of Hampton, and Dexter Perkins, Roan Mountain, and three daughters, Wanda
Frye, Roan Mountain, Deloris Shelton, Jonesborough, and Faye Philyaw, Granite
Falls, N.C. Twenty-four grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren
also survive.

Marie Scalf, 76, of Germantown, Ohio, formerly of Hampton, died Monday, January
24, 2000, at Sycamore Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.
Mrs.
Scalf was a native of Elk Park, N.C., and the daughter of the late Henry Dewey
and Novella Hicks Holtsclaw. She was also preceded in death by her husband,
Harry Edgar Scalf, and a brother, Homer P. Holtsclaw.
Survivors
include two sons, Dayton P. Scalf, Johnson City, and Larry E. Scalf, Hampton,
and a daughter, Marty Gillespie, Germantown, Ohio. Six grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren also survive.

"Mutt" Shoun, 56, Highway 67, Hampton, died Tuesday, January 25, 2000, at Sycamore
Shoals Hospital.
Mr.
Shoun was a native of Butler and the son of the late Thelmer and Pauline Shoun.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Shoun and Donnie Shoun.
Mr.
Shoun was self-employed as an electrician.
Survivors
include two brothers, Sheryl Shoun, Butler, and Tommy Shoun, of Nevada; a sister,
Joann Pierce, of Indiana; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kim and Chris
Proffitt, Elizabethton, Brandy and Keith Perkins, Roan Mountain, and April Shoun,
Butler; two granddaughters, Morgan Perkins, Roan Mountain, and Lacey Greenwell,
Butler; and four special friends, Andy Calhoun and Teresa Holder, Hampton, Judy
Rogers and Jeannie Marlow, Elizabethton.

Haskel Nave, 66, died Friday, January 21, 2000, in Flint, Mich.
Survivors
include a sister, Mrs. Gail Anderson, Burton, Mich., and a sister-in-law, Roxie

Larry
Glen Blevins, 56, 469 Tiger Creek Road, Roan Mountain, died suddenly Saturday,
January 22, 2000, at his residence.
Mr.
Blevins was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Kail and Lillie
Roberts Blevins. He was also preceded in death by his grandfather and grandmother,
Tennessee and Cora Blevins.
Mr.
Blevins was of the Free Will Baptist faith. He was a machinist at PSG and a
farmer.
Survivors
include his wife, Charlotte Sue Blevins, of the home; two daughters, Deanna
Kay Blevins Hensley and her husband, David Lynn Hensley, Jonesborough, and Glenda
Denise Blevins and her fiance, Kevin Conner, Johnson City; one grandson, David
Lee Hensley, Jonesborough; one brother, Gary Wayne Blevins, of the home; one
aunt, Bernice Shoun, Hampton; one uncle, William Roberts, Hampton; one special
niece and one special nephew, Kristie and David Blevins, of the home; two sisters,
Patricia Dishman, Knoxville, and Linda Jarrett, Bluff City; and his father-in-law
and mother-in-law, Herman and Ellen Stout, Hampton. Three cousins and several
nieces and nephews also survive.

Louise Emmert Collins, 66, 705 E. Market Street, Johnson City, died Friday,
January 21, 2000, at Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Mrs.
Collins was a native of Carter County and had lived in Washington County for
30 years. She was a daughter of the late Frank C. and Juanita Mottern Emmert
and was also preceded in death by a brother, James Emmert, and a sister, Florence
Woods.
Mrs.
Collins was a retired employee of Sprint Telephone with 40 years of service.
She was a member of Big Spring Church of Christ.
Survivors
include her husband, Bill W. Collins, of the home, and two brothers, Ralph "Doc"
Emmert and Curtis Emmert, both of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also
survive.

S. Daly, 213 S. Cedar Avenue, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, January 19, 2000,
at his residence.
Mr.
Daly was a native of Schenectady, N.Y., and had lived in Carter County since
1941.
Mr.
Daly was a retired engineer with T.V.A. with 36 years of service. He was a member
and former Elder and Sunday School Teacher at East River Park Christian Church.
Survivors
include his wife, Ruth Daly, of the home; a daughter, Patricia Ann Wilson, Johnson
City; a granddaughter, Cynthia Jo Wilson, Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Gertrude
Griffiths and June Hensley, both of New York; several nieces and nephews; and
a special friend, John Rominger, Elizabethton.

Templeton, 82, Durham-Hensley Nursing Home, Chuckey, died Thursday, January
20, 2000, at the James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center, Mountain Home.
Mr.
Templeton was retired from the V.A. Medical Center, Mountain Home. He was a
Veteran of World War II.
Mr.
Templeton was preceded in death by his wife, Mona Templeton; his parents, Aaron
Templeton and Mollie Robinson Templeton; three brothers, Roy Templeton, Ray
Templeton and Curtis Vice Templeton; and two sisters, Helen Templeton and Valice
Templeton.
Survivors
include an adopted son, Charles Templeton; a special niece by marriage, Jerline
Campbell, Limestone, with whom he made his home before entering the nursing
home; two brothers, Herbert Templeton and Alvin Templeton, both of Rogersville;
and three sisters, Maude Askew and Nancy Forgety, both of Rogersville, and Norma
Jean Green, Charlotte, N.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

entombment at Roselawn Mausoleum, Johnson City.

Carol Joanne Thomen, 72, 604 Swadley Road, Johnson City, died Thursday, January
20, 2000, at Asbury Center.
Mrs.
Thomen was a native of Gary, Ind., and a daughter of Evelyn Graves Keller, Indianapolis,
Ind., and the late John Keller. She was also preceded in death by her husband,
Robert J. Thomen, and a son, John J. Thomen.
Mrs.
Thomen moved from Las Cruces, N.M., to Johnson City in 1991. She was a retired
employee of K-Mart and a member of Watauga Point United Methodist Church. She
was a member of the DAR.
Survivors,
in addition to her mother, include a daughter, Patricia A. Dobes, 1122 Powder
Branch Road, Elizabethton; two sons, Richard H. Thomen, Las Cruces, N.M., and
Fredrick R. Thomen, Clinton, N.C.; a sister, Lois Pinckley, Indianapolis, Ind.;
and three grandchildren, Joanne Dobes, James Dobes and Lindsey Thomen.
