M/Sgt. Jefferson D. Davis
M/Sgt. Jefferson Donald "Donnie" Davis, A Company,
3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Unit, Green Beret, U.S.
Army, age 39, 712 Shelton Circle, Clarksville, and formerly
of Elizabethton, died Wednesday, December 5, 2001, in Afghanistan.
M/Sgt. Davis was a native of Carter County and
the son of William Lon and Linda Curd Davis, Watauga.
M/Sgt. Davis was a member of Fairview Baptist
Church. He was a 1981 graduate of Elizabethton High School,
where he played on the football and basketball teams. He also
attended Lees-McRae College, Banner Elk, N.C., where he played
on the football team.
M/Sgt. Davis also served in Desert Storm.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include
his wife, Mi Yu Kyong Davis, of the home; a daughter, Cristina
Davis, of the home; a son, Jesse Davis, of the home; a sister
and brother-in-law, Debbie and Tim Sams, Watauga; a brother,
Danny Davis, and a special friend, Karen Jenkins, both of
Elizabethton; his maternal grandmother, Ruth Curd, Watauga;
two nieces, Rikki Baughman and Cheyenne Sams, both of Watauga;
a nephew, Wesley Baughman, Watauga; several other nieces and
nephews who live in Korea; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
M/Sgt. Davis will be returned to Elizabethton
for funeral services and interment with full Military Honors
provided by Fifth Group, Special Forces, of Fort Campbell,
Ky. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.
