Arnold Willis and several more of his friends plan their own Christmas parade Saturday morning, when they will hitch their horses to decorated and lighted wagons and travel as a wagon train from Tiger Valley to Hampton and back.
Willis is excited about the Christmas ride and plans to decorate his wagons as well as his two black mules, Bud and Spud, with electric lights. "I've got a generator to put in my wagon, and that's how I plan to power the lights," he said.
"I'm going to decorate my horses with red bows and bells, and I might even put a Santa hat on the mules," he said with a laugh.
In addition to Willis, the train will include Bob Finney, Les Roberts, Mike McKinney and Jim Johnson. "All of us have horses and enjoy the wagon train," Willis said.
"We plan to leave from Aunt Em's Restaurant in Tiger Valley around 10 o'clock and travel down the four-lane to Hampton through Braemar and cross over and go down Swimming Pool Road to McDonald's and back to Tiger Valley," Willis explained.
Willis said he plans to decorate his mules and wagons with about 700 lights. "We'll be a sight to see," he said.
"We wanted to get out and do something before the weather got bad. And, we'll be making the ride Saturday if it's not raining."
