JOHNSON CITY -- The community has accepted Johnson City Honda very well since the dealership opened for business in June, according to Joe Trujillo, who along with Scott Joseph own the business.
  "It's a great dealership, it's a great product, it's a great town," Trujillo said.
Thus far, the Honda Accord has been the most popular new vehicle at Johnson City Honda. "The Honda Accord is, by far, our bread-and-butter car," Trujillo said.
"It's the comfort level, the reliability, the safety of the car, anti-lock brakes, love seats, tilt cruise, all the features that come standard with the car..."
Many of the cars, Trujillo observes, are built in America. "The Accord and the Civic are made in Ohio," he said. "The Pilot and the Oddysy are made in Alabama. Some of the cars are still made overseas, but the bulk of what we see here are all American-built cars."
New cars include a three-year, 36,000-mile, bumper-to-bumper warranty. "All Hondas are eligible for extended warranties, but our product is so reliable that we really haven't had a need as a product manufacturer to extend the warranty," Trujillo said. "These cars go 200,000 miles basically maintenance free."
Trujillo advises customers to return the vehicle to a franchise dealer for the required maintenance as per the manufacturer recommendations.
"We have a mission statement that's posted everywhere across the store that shows the customers and employees that we do care about them," Trujillo said. "They are first. Here at Johnson City Honda we empower our employees to take care of the customer first."
First-time customers will notice "the comfort" according to Trujillo. "It's a relaxed atmosphere," he said. "Everybody's family. Everybody's laughing. Everybody's having fun. We have popcorn going in the showroom. We have balloons up. We have things for kids to play with, things for kids to do while their parents are shopping for cars. I have a lot of long-term employees here. It's just a very open, easy, relaxed atmosphere. That's the first thing you notice when you walk in the door. There's no high pressure. There's no gimmicks. There's nothing but real deals."
Johnson City Honda, which has 62 employees, is located at 2806 N. Roan Street. The business opened on June 17 at the former John Skinner Honda location.
