Teen charged with drug possession at school

  From Staff Reports
A 15-year-old female has been charged with drug possession after a search of her high school locker turned up more than one-half ounce of marijuana.
According to police reports, on Friday, Carter County Sheriff's Department Deputy Sarah Ryan with her K-9 partner Sgt. Kabor was dispatched to Unaka High School in reference to a narcotics search of the school lockers.
During that search, Ryan states in her report, Kabor detected something. "A hand search discovered a plastic baggy with approximately 16.2 grams of leafy green substance believed to be marijuana in a jacket pocket hanging in the locker.
The owner of the locker, whose name was not released because of her age, was located and charged with possession of Schedule VI narcotics on school property. She was released to the custody of a parent and is scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court later this month.
